I grew up at 2201 West Bijou so right down the street. I remember the Davidson house was a house to hangout at. Robert would go all out for the holidays. I was one of those kids who walked passed his house to get to school, (Buena Vista elementary) was right down the street but you always had to walk through West Junior High field only way to cross. I remember this one time when some junior high kids picked a fight with me, because I wouldn't give my lunch money to one of the little brother who was in the fifth grade. I was in the fourth grade. I took on two eighth grades that picked a fight with me because I said NO to there little brother. (stupid boys! picking on a girl)The fight was crazy I remember getting super dirty, popped one of the boys in the eye and the other one gave me a bloody lip. But I didn't cry I stayed strong. After the fight I was walking home. I was so proud that I stood up to these bullies. Robert Senior was outside working on the yard and stopped me and asked if I was ok. I high fives him with my excitement. I remember him calling to Shirley to get some ice and a towel to stop my lip from bleeding. He smiled so BIG for me, happy to hear I took on the bullies. This fight paved the way and no one ever messed with me or my siblings again. Robert was easy to talk with he took pride in his holiday decorations, his yard and he loved his family. Who would have thought many years later I would call him Uncle Robert. Robert was always very heart warming towards me. I think his mental heart is what made his boys so caring. He was a sweet man always took the time to talk with my Mom, and my Aunt Dorothy. I'm so sorry that he's no longer with us.
All of my prayers love and support go out to Aunt Shirley and the kids.
Love always,
Elizabeth
