Obituary of Ronald Legrand Arms

Ronald Legrand Arms died April 6, 2023 at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  

Born January 3, 1933 in San Mateo, California to Irene and Joseph Arms, he received degrees in mathematics from Stanford University (bachelor's) and the University of Michigan (master's).  

He spent his career working on nonlinear optimization algorithms for the defense industry.  He cherished his family, enjoyed bicycling, astronomy, playing the piano, and mentoring math students.

His parents preceded him in death.  

His survivors include his wife, Margaret Arms; sons, Joseph Arms, and Oliver Arms; daughter, Sarah (Adam) Smith; and his grandchildren, Zachary and Mollie Smith.
