Dear Gwen, We're so sorry to hear of John's passing. We hope that many years of happy memories and the love of your family and friends sustain you in this difficult time. Even though we didn't have much time to spend with you here on the lake before, we will always remember your kindness to us as new neighbors. Love to you, Betsy and Mark

Gwen, AS many have said already, many will say in the future, and you know already, John was one of the best men that I have known. It is unfortunate that he had to depart us so quickly but I am sure there is a reason for it. He is well taken care of now. I will always be there for you if you ever need anything that I can help with. Love ya lots.....

Gwen, John and you were the first full time residents we met when we started coming to Lake Anna over 20 years ago. After we built our weekend home and came more often, we always watched for the 2 of you to walk to the front gate for mail or papers. You both were so active in the community and always helped with every community event. When my granddaughter, Hannah, came to visit it was your yard that we used for her to swim in as we fished off your docks. The community continues to change and people do come and go but there will never be a more friendly couple than the two of you. We are sorry to hear of John's passing but know that it was his health condition that determined you leaving the Lake and going to CO. May you know that numerous friends are thinnking of you and your family and my God help provide comfort to you during this period of adjustment. We are so glad that you are near family. Take care and always remember the Lake with fond memories and we will always remember you both. David and J.J. Updike
