Mr. Robertson, I only wish you had been my basketball coach while I played at La Serna in the mid70's. Instead I competed against you and your Sierra teams while you coached there. You later came to coach at La Serna after I was gone and I often wonder if I could of gone onto to play in the NBA had you coached me... Oh well, rest in peace and God Bless Your family!

From the Fromson family, we express our condolences to Kay and the extended Robertson family in this trying time. For myself, I now find it necessary to express to Virgil's friends and family of how important he was to me and how his lessons, his friendship, and his mentoring were a gift I cannot yet fully measure. It has seemed to me for many years that almost all the important lessons I learned were on or near the basketball courts. The discipline, the responsibility, the honor, the hard work, and excellence he sought and demanded from us that were part of the basketball team, I have continued to seek out and demand from myself in all aspects of my life. And, when I have fallen short, Virgil's teachings remind me I can do better or I can do more. I lament Virgil's passing greatly and profoundly, and wish to express again my family's sympathies. Sincerely, Sean, La Serna HS

Mr. Robertson, you were never forgotten here in Whittier. You're the best teacher and coach I ever had. I remember when you and Kay were married. I was a sophomore in high school and was so happy for you both. You left a lasting impression on so many, Your a wonderful man. God has you now, Maybe you can give him some pointers on pitching a baseball. Love, light and prayers to your family, rest in peace.

May our Lord Jesus comfort you in this time of parting, reminding you that it is only temporary for those who love the Lord and are called to His purpose. I will greatly miss Coach, but will never forget the huge positive influence he played in my life. God Bless.

Virg had a profound impact on all of us who knew him. His greatest legacy will be all the young men he taught to be moral, fair and honest, while being fierce competitors. He always stressed academics, athleticism, and school/public service. Rest in well deserved peace, old friend.
