Obituary of Marvin H. Hopkins
Marvin H. Hopkins, a Colorado resident since 1973, passed from this life into the waiting arms of his Savior and beloved wife of over 60 years, Lucy, who preceded him in death in 2011.He is survived by his four sons Marvin Michael, David and his wife JoAnn, Douglas and his wife, Cindy, Steven, and his wife, Cheryl, granddaughters Cienna, Grace, Dallas and Annalise, and grandsons Dakota, Joshua, Jacob and Matthew. We were all truly blessed to have him as a father, grandfather and friend.Marvin was born April 13, 1929 in Winslow, Indiana. In the 1960's and '70's he was instrumental to the success of manned space flight by providing on-orbit telemetry support to the Gemini and Apollo space programs for Philco Ford in support of NASA. He left NASA's Johnson Space Center in 1972 and, as a defense contractor with Ford Aerospace, served as program manager for several Cheyenne Mountain Space Control (SPADOC 4A) and Integrated Tactical Warning / Attack Assessment (427M) programs critical to U.S. national defense.A man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and Gaither Family gospel music, Marv loved his family more than life. He will be sorely missed by his immediate family, and those who labored with him to make manned space flight a reality and secure and maintain the defense of our nation. In the race of life, he finished strong. (2 Tim. 4: 7-8). The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Odyssey Hospice for their love, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the infirm and their families.
