Obituary of Ronald Johnson

Ronald Johnson, second son to Fortune and the late Rebecca Johnson was born in New York City on August 23, 1954. As a child, Ronald and his brother were no strangers to adventure. Giving his parents cause for several panic attacks, he lived life with a sense of fervor and abandon seldom seen. In 1973, at the young age of 18, Ronald chose to enlist in the United States Army. During his service of two consecutive terms spanning from 1973 to 1981, Ronald rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class and received several decorations including the National Defense Service Medal. He was married in 1977 to Donna Smith, and from this union they had two daughters, Andrea Hope and Enjoli Dane. Shortly after leaving the service, Ronald and Donna settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he joined the Colorado Springs Fire Department. Joining the CSFD was a source of great pride for him and his family. Ron reached out through his fire department community as a member of the Black Professional Firefighters of Colorado Springs. He always advocated for the rights of his fellow firefighters. He would proudly serve as Firefighter for eight years until he sustained an injury in the line of duty in 1990 and would subsequently retire as Firefighter First Class in 1992.He was a man of passion, intelligence and incredible wit. Social butterfly that he was, he could make the most simple and dry situations enjoyable. As a man of many talents, Ronald could scarcely focus on only one endeavor. Comedian, and renowned storyteller, he shared his passion for music and for living as if there was no tomorrow. Ronald leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, his father, Fortune and step-mother, Mariah Johnson; wife Donna Johnson; his sisters Doris Johnson, Deborah Johnson, and Dania Johnson; daughters Andrea Johnson, and Enjoli Guillory; son "in-law" Josh Guillory and granddaughters Elia-Dane and Jolina Guillory; Mother-in-law Hope Smith; sisters-in-law Melody (Dale) Crawford, Harmony (Johnny) Flournoy, and Angela (Bradley) Trelstad and a whole host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
