My first wife Deb and I met Charlie when we lived in the same apartment building in Hillsboro, NH. I had just gotten out of the USAF myself, and was attending the aviation program at Nathaniel Hawthorne College nearby. Deb would often invite Charlie to join us for dinner. We continued to keep in touch over the years as we both pursued careers in aviation. Great guy. A bright and gentle man.

I Knew Charles Weinert in Civil Air Patrol for about 4 years. He was a brilliant cadet and then he made it to the AF Academy. He was meant to be a pilot, as he had the brain for that.Rest in peace, and condolences to his family.

I first met Charles when he was in Junior High school. He was in the Civil Air Patrol and I was the senior leader of the Squadron. I arranged for a trip to the Air Force Academy and Charles was one of my cadets that got to go. After we returned home, Charles came to me and said " I have decided that I am going to the AF Academy". I did not think Charles had a chance but I was obviously wrong. I told Charles that this was a very lofty goal and he needed to start immediately by making excellent grades in school and start contacting any Congressman or anyone that might get him an appointment to the Academy. Three years later Charles came to me with the good news that he had received an appointment and he had one request. I said sure and he requested that I be present when he graduated from the Academy. Four years later I received an invitation and my wife, children and I attended his graduation . I am very proud that I may have played a small part in his career. Charles was a great kid and a fine man.

Charlie and I worked together since 1984 doing defense and commercial R&D. Charlie was a brilliant, creative engineer and designer. He was dedicated to "doing it right". Charlie loved his family, the Air Force, and his country. He was a great pilot and a true patriot. I will never forget the time that he called me from the cockpit of an F4 fighter while on a training mission and arranged to meet for dinner at a local airport. I didn't know that he was in an airplane when he called. To my surprise, he showed up with the F4 and we walked from the airport to the restaurant and had a fine dinner! Charlie was an honest, kind, and gentle man. He was a true friend and cared about people. He would always offer help to those who needed it. Charlie was full of ideas and inventions. He was insightful and often saw better ways to make things work. He wanted to make the world a better place and....I think that he did. Rest in peace, Charlie. I love you, my friend.
