Obituary
Obituary of Carmalita Anderson
Carmalita Anderson went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 27, 2013 at her home in Aurora, Colorado surrounded by loving family. She was born on November 28, 1925 in Childress, Texas to Jay Cleveland and Zou Ida Carter, raised in Tucumcari, NM and was married to Cyrus 'Doc' Anderson. Carmalita and Doc raised their five children as they lived in Harper, KS; Anthony, KS; Blackwell, OK; and finally Tulsa, OK. After their divorce in 1971, Carmalita never remarried, staying true to her vows and continuing to live in Tulsa until she moved to Colorado in 1991. Carmalita was a loving, faithful wife, wonderful mother, great-great-grandmother, mother in-law and friend to many. She enjoyed writing poetry, gardening, telling stories, strumming up inventions, and laughing and singing. She was a caring and gifted CNA who for many years provided care in the medical profession with Doc in the chiropractic clinic and later working independently for nursing services. After her subsequent strokes in 1994 and 1998, she continued her life journey with limited mobility and loss of speech. However, through her silence and loving spirit, she spoke loudly into the lives of those around her and continued to live life to the fullest. She was a devout Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart, a prayer warrior for her family and friends, and on occasion would bless those around her by singing her favorite hymn Amazing Grace with perfect clarity. She looked forward to the day she would meet her Lord and with her passing, family and friends may recall another of her favorite hymns, It is Well with My Soul, and in her own few words she often spoke, " Isa mighty well ! ".Carmalita is survived by her five children: Mike Anderson (Sandy), Larry Anderson, Steven Anderson (Rozan), Ida Christine Gargiulo (Joe), and Richard Anderson. Twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren also survive her. Her death is preceded by all of her siblings, by her ex-husband Doc, and by her grandson Michael Anderson (Mikie). In memory of Carmalita and honoring her request, the following poem she wrote years ago regarding her passing is shared here for her family and friends:When You RememberBy Carmalita AndersonI pray when my life's work is finishedWhen the last trumpet has sounded for meThat my loved ones won't be frettingBut somehow in their hearts they will seeThat life is but a small candleThat burns only for a day.The only purpose for that candleIs to help light the way.I hope they will know that my SaviorTook me firmly by the handAnd led me safely overInto that Promised Land.I hope that as they rememberAll of my yesterdaysThey'll think of all my tomorrowsAs never ending days. For though my flame burned dimlyJust barely enough light for meI pray within my deepest heartIt was bright enough that they'll seeThat our Loving Heavenly FatherKeeps our hand and holds it fastAnd tho they cannot see my light - - -It's burning brightly, Somewhere at last.I pray their hearts will be liftedThat faith will dry their tearsFor then the light I was given to holdWill burn on in their hearts for years. Please see Carmalita's Facebook Page for additional photos and to leave remembrances.www.facebook.com/carmalita.andersonIn lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that contributions towards funeral expenses may be made through this website under Services/Payment Center.Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
