Obituary of Kate C. Archer

Kate C. Archer, 86, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, formerly of Green Mountain Falls, Colorado, passed away October 15, 2013.Kate was born January 23, 1927 in Mayfield, Kansas to Sydney Bert and Lucy Stayton Clark. She was youngest of 5 children.Kate graduated from Kansas State University in Home Economics and was a member of Clovia House. She worked as a Kansas Extension demonstrator in rural Kansas right after graduating from college. She also trained many a young girl in her home during the 70's & 80's.Kate was united in marriage in 1948 to her husband Rex Donald Archer for over forty years. He preceded her in death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Kent Archer, her brothers: Reese Clark and Henry Clark, and her sister Lizzie (Clark) Miller; and leaves many nieces and nephews.She is survived by two children Dr. Rex Archer II and wife Janet of Kansas City, Missouri; and Lee "Red" Clark Archer and wife Jude Archer of Clarksville Tennessee. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, four great grandchildren: Dr. Eric Archer and his wife Sarah of Kansas City, Missouri; and Rebecca Archer and her husband, Lane Haury of Kirkland, Washington; Alison (Archer) Kingsbury and her husband David Kingsbury and their son Gideon of Fulton, Missouri; Zachary Archer and his wife Natalie Archer and their daughter Hannah, son Zadok Elijah and youngest son Bob of Ft. Mill South Carolina; and youngest grandson Scott Archer of Big Rock, Tennessee. Kate Archer was known for her work as a leader in Boy Scouts of America, and all three of her boys became Eagle Scouts. She was active in Rock Springs 4-H Camp Building expansion, and honored by Rock Springs 4-H Camp for her support. She enjoyed home design and home furnishing details. She was active in Old Mission United Methodist Church from 1954 to 1977; and then Church of the Wildwood in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado after she and her husband moved to their Colorado home in 1977. She had home Bible study in 2008 and continued with her friends in skilled nursing in the last few years. She greatly appreciated her friends, family, and medical staff who cared for her, especially in her last days.Memorial Contributions may be made in Kate's memory to the Rock Springs 4-H Center | Camp, Conference and Retreat Center.
