Obituary of Vonna L. Strom

Vonna LuElla Strom entered peacefully into her eternal life with the Lord on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 and has joined the love of her life and all those who have gone before her. Vonna was born in Flint, Michigan on May 11, 1939 to Harry and Myna Willison, sister to Gene.Vonna lived much of her life in Oak Park, Illinois, where she met and married the love of her life, Jack, in May of 1950. They raised their three children, Doug, Debbi and Lori in Oak Park.Through Vonna's love of Christ, family and music, she touched many lives. Her love of music was her greatest gift to all who knew her. She had a loving, giving spirit and contagious laughter that we will always remember. After Jack's passing in 1994, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to be with her daughters and began the next chapter of her life where she was active in her church choir and as a care giver for the elderly. Her love of giving to people brought such joy to those who knew her; always thoughtful with her prayers, gifts or cards and special messages.Vonna will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved here, and is survived by her children, Doug and his wife Denise; Debbi and her husband Ron; Lori and her husband Scott; grandchildren Melissa, Kristen, Matthew, Ron, Nick, Aaron and his wife Marissa, Rachel and great grandson Gabriel. Vonna is also survived by her brother Gene and many cousins, nieces and nephews with whom she shared many loving memories. We would like to share a message Mom left us in a note dated May 11, 2007:To Those Who I Love and Those Who Love Me"When I am gone, release me, and let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears... be happy that we had so many years. I gave you my love; you can only guess how much you gave me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it's time I travel alone. So grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part. So bless the memories with your heart. I won't be far away; for life goes on... if you need me call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near and if you listen with your heart you'll hear all my love around you soft and clear. And then when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say 'Welcome home'"All my love,VonnaFuneral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909 Events Service Thursday, October 24, 2013 12:00AM The Springs Funeral Services 3115 East Platte Avenue Colorado Springs, CO 80909 Phone: 719-207-8855
