I considered Diane my best friend, (sister), for the fortunate 26 years we had together. To say she will be missed just does not come close to explain how I feel. My sympathies to her husband Art (who she adored) and her entire family. RAGBRAI, (Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa), will never seem the same to me again. For 10 years Diane came to Iowa for the bike ride and to visit with me. I will cherish those memories forever. She was one of the most courageous and strongest people I have ever known. I am very grateful that she had Art by her side through this unbearable time. Diane, I will miss you. I am glad you are at peace. Art, please take care of yourself. Diane would want you to be healthy and happy. God bless and comfort you all!

When I think back on the years Diane and I were friends in the Boston area, I lose count of the number of times we shared wonderful experiences in the outdoors in the spring, summer and fall (I'm not a winter person). I think back to bicycle trips in Vermont, canoeing on a lake that provided a beautiful view of Mt. Chocorua in NH, enjoying weekends in the Berkshires/Taconic mountains of western Massachusetts. Her constant smile and effervescent spirit made dinners spent in her company more enjoyable. A couple of years after she moved to Colorado, she unexpectedly appeared in the Boston area for a few days, and my delight in seeing her again knew no bounds.

Dearest Arthur, wishing your the comfort and support by all those who will be at your side. It was wonderful to get to meet your lovely Diane. Only sorrow for the loss of time. We wish you a calmness of heart. Your reflecting on all the Beautiful Adventures that you both contributed to life will be like Balsam of Gilead. The soothing oil to comfort and keep you. Your sister Carla
