Obituary of Nan Russell Smith Scranton
Nan Russell Smith Scranton was born February 26, 1954 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Edwin and Helen Smith. She died January 15, 2015 in Memorial Hospital due to complications of pneumonia.Nan held a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Evansville, a Masters in Nursing from Ohio State University, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado. She was a member of the Colorado Bar Association and served as a deputy district attorney for El Paso County.Nan was an active member of Broadmoor Community Church, volunteered with Teen Court, Friends of Cheyenne Mountain, World Affairs Council, The American Heart Association, Tessa, League of Women Voters, The Colorado Springs Youth Symphony and several legal affiliations.Nan's survivors include her brother, Sam and his wife, Nancy of Tulsa, Oklahoma and their seven children. She was preceded in death by her son, Austin.A Memorial Service will be held Monday, January 26 at 2:00 PM at Broadmoor Community Church, 315 Lake Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado with inurnment in the church's Meditation Glen. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Nan's memory may be made to the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony, 1702 North Murray Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80915 or Broadmoor Community Church Memorial Gifts Fund.
