When we used to go to Blue Lake in the 90's Brent would wear black jeans in the 100 degree heat. It amazed me that he never got heat stroke. We also had a great time playing on a dart league. Thou I haven't seen him in quite a few years I will miss knowing he's not here.

Brent was my good friend. We connected at Putnam City High School through our mutual classes and association with a great teacher in Mr Knight. Mr Knight taught us Physics, Electronics, Meteorology and Astronomy. I believe he was the only one that Mr Knight trusted enough to let take home and use the school's new Newtonian reflector telescope. On short notice, Brent went with me and a small group of JETS (Junior Engr. and Tech. Society) club members to represent Putnam City against the highly favored Casady HS and a half dozen other schools. They gave us a schedule of events and we came up with a strategy of who was to participate in what events. He was in the paper airplane contest and egg drop contest which I think he took 3rd and 1st respectively. I took 1st in the paper airplane contest but only because he helped me choose between two designs I was tinkering with. The contest was distance X time so while most contestants were making darts launched from a rubber band sling shot (getting huge distance but in only a fraction of a second), he convinced me the best plane would be a glider (he chose to make a Barnaby) that stays aloft a long time and gets medium distance. It worked out great. Mr. Knight was as shocked and happy as I had ever seen him that we came away with three trophies against that kind of competition. We briefly went to the same college and talked from time to time but then he graduated and got a job at Sandia Labs in New Mexico where my sister worked. I lost track of him until we reconnected on Facebook. He was simply one of the coolest guys I've ever met and I will miss his easy going smirk/smile, his photography, knowledgeable-yet-humorous comments and music he shared. My heartfelt thoughts go out to his loved ones. He left us with some wonderful memories.

I went to school with Brent at Putnam City High School. The one thing that I always remembered about Brent is how smart he was. He would sit quietly in class, and then rise his hand and give the correct answer to an extremely hard question. This didn't happen just once, it happened all the time. We also managed to make is answers funny, making all of us in the classroom laugh. I have never forgotten Brent for this reason. He managed to stand out in our very large class. I am so sorry for your loss. My condolences, Cindy (Newman) Sutphin
