I hadn't though of Uncle Lloyd for a while. I think of him from time to time because he was a man who was both remarkable and memorable. He was a great example to me as I grew up. Today I thought of him especially because I have been making cheeses, and I remember some of the stories he would tell me about when he was a cheesemaker for Knudsen's Creamery in Visalia. As I sit down to my first attempt at cottage cheese later today, he will be on my mind. He is missed.

Lloyd was one of the greatest men I have known , on his word I was given a job at Knudsen's Creamery which led to a better life both for myself and my family , and for that we will be forever grateful. He and Kathy were great friends to us , and both the Lawrence family and Kathy's parents the Ikerds who lived across the street from our first home were always there for us and our twin sons and daughter. As a Foreman and coworker Lloyd had no equal, I remember Lloyd cooking cottage cheese in a room where the temperature was over 100 degrees and as the younger workers rotated out for water and salt tablets Lloyd just kept working away not stopping until the job was done. He was also the most patient and kind man I have ever known. He will be missed , both in California and Colorado. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kathy and Mary.
