Obituary of Richard Edgar Mowers
Richard Edgar Mowers was born at home in Rome, New York on December 10, 1927 to Frank B. and Jessie E. (Perry) Mowers.He went to school through the 8th grade, then quit and went to work on farms in the area to help out with family expenses. Richard was drafted into the Army on December 28, 1945 and was stationed at Camp Carson. Richard trained in mountain climbing and learned how to ski and snow shoe in the mountains at Camp Hale. While stationed at Camp Carson, he met Carolyn Crosslen on a blind date. They married October 3, 1947. Richard was discharged from the Army on April 7, 1947. He worked as a truck driver for most of his career and retired after forty-six years at the age of 71. Richard was a proud WWII Veteran who also served in the Naval Reserves. He enjoyed spending time with his family and with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Richard and Carolyn had nine children. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn; nine siblings; and daughter, Jodee Ann. Richard is survived by his brother, Daniel Mowers; six sons, Richard (Ruth), Charles (Donna), William (Toni), Peter (Lee), Alan (Sandra), Thomas (Kristina); and daughters, Cindy (Martin) Rauer and Juleen (Gina) Mowers-Pardini. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, Wende, Amanda, Kasie, Richey, Wendy, Brian, Kretina, Carolyn, Mark, Michael, Travis, Jessica, Joel, Christopher, Brittany, Gino, Nicolie, and Dakota; and seventeen great-grandchildren.Memorial Service, 2:00PM, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.
