PAPA Carl was a man of very few words. He gave unconditional love to his grandchildren, and found joy in their successes. He was involved with his great grandchildren, even regularly texting his oldest great granddaughter Eva, up until a few weeks before his passing. His presence at our Thanksgiving table will be a great loss and his famous stuffing that he lovingly brought in his little crockpot. Personally, I will cherish all the kindness and love he showed me in my early youth and honest, caring advice he gave me as an adult. His compliments were often and they were real. I always knew that he loved me and felt proud of my accomplishments in life. He is a great loss, but his memory will live wrapped in a blanket of loving feelings with my daughters and I.

Even though I was never officially adopted, Daddy, thank you for being my replacement father and accepting me as your "daughter". You made me feel loved and I was always proud to be part of your life. I will forever remember your work ethic and sense of pride during your military service and your time with the Post Office. You were an inspiration to my sons. Rest in peace and know that your memory lives on inside our hearts. Love, Martina, Douglas, Sascha and Alexander Betts

My Daddy will be missed so very much by me. I am very blessed to have him as my Dad, as through the years the closeness of our relationship we became inseparable. We would talk almost daily just to see how each other was doing. He was a man of integry and loved everyone, which is one of the traits I most admired about my Daddy. In the last year of his life I was very blessed to having the opportunity to spend a lot of time with him. Especially the last few days of life as I got to be with him during his last breathe. Daddy I love you so much and our memories will be ever lasting.

When I first met Carl I knew he was going to have a significant impact on my life. He was more than a Father-in-law to me, he was a caring and loving Dad so I called him Dad and he called me Son. We came very close and had many great conversations together. We spent a lot of time talking about sports. He loved talking to me about the Kansas State Wildcats and his reaction to the games. He knew all the players sometimes even better than I did. During the last year we spent more time in Colorado than we did in Wisconsin and every moment spent with him was special. I am glad I got to know him like I did and I am going to miss him. I know one day we will meet up together in heaven and we can catch up on all the things we missed out on. I love you Dad...
