Thank you John for being such a great Professor at UCCS (Circuits II if I recall correctly). You made the course fun, I learned a lot thanks to your teaching style, and 34 years later I still miss those weekly "pop" quizzes that you gave, with a grin! You really kept us on our toes.

John and I had many great discussions about accreditation. He was a gentle man with a big heart. His experience in the Navy created a bond with me because of my Army career. I will miss our casual talks about these other experiences. Thank you, John, for your friendship and dedication.

John and I worked together for years on the ABET Board of Directors. I always valued his dedication and thoughtful contributions to our work. More than that, we formed a bond as friends. It turns out that John and I both graduated from the University of Arkansas. While he was an electrical engineering student and I was an industrial engineering student, we knew several of the same professors and shared lots of fond memories. John was a true believer in the power of education and his experience at the U of A gave him a solid basis for the professional success he enjoyed. The rest was due to his hard work and the way that he tackled any task with enthusiasm and joy. I miss John sorely. Larry Jones Monument, CO

A great engineer, a great HP-Way role model ... and, best of all, a great friend for several decades. I'm sure St Peter is piping him aboard with the proper contingent of SideBoys. "Fair weather and following seas Captain John ... we have the watch now"

I had the pleasure of working with John for well over ten years in both the IEEE and ABET. Both organizations have lost a great friend. I say friend because John approached everyone as a friend. He approached every situation asking how he could help. His goal was to help, to serve, and to make things better. This was manifest in his many friendships, his sage advice, his thoughtfulness, and in the way he helped shape difficult discussions and, using his Navy skills, steer them away from the shoals and out into calmer waters. His life was one of service. I learned many valuable lessons from John and will miss him. My condolences to his family, know that we hold John and you in our hearts - Michael Lightner

I worked with John for many years at Hewlett Packard and Agilent Technologies. I much enjoyed our discussions about the design work we were doing and about his experiences in the Navy and his early career as an electrical engineer. He was also very passionate about his work with the IEEE, which gave him the opportunity to work with young up and coming engineers. He was both inspired by, and inspiring to, new engineers whenever he had the opportunity to interface with them. John was truly one of the nicest and most humble people I have had the pleasure to work with. Many here at Keysight (formerly Agilent) have expressed to me the same feelings about John. -Mike Lujan

John was one of the best role models I have encountered in my many years of working as an engineer - always positive and optimistic, always humble, never critical, always helping others, always working hard and striving to improve himself at work and in his personal life. I am very sad to hear of his passing.

John leaves a great void in IEEE leadership. He was truly a talented and devoted leader to IEEE and its members. There was no more gracious gentleman than John. I valued his creativity and talent along with his intelligence to make a project more successful and effective. I hope his family realizes that John was not only a treasure to them, but to so many others and especially IEEE members. My thoughts and prayers will be with his family so that John's memory will always be a blessing for them. Maura Schreier-Fleming

I first met John many years ago when we both were volunteering for IEEE Accreditation activities. In 1998 I moved to Colorado Springs and discovered this was John's hometown! I soon volunteered, prodded by John, for the local IEEE organization which John was very active. Between the local section and accreditation we worked together for decades. He was a great mentor for me. He was knowledgeable and always would offer advice and guidance. He was a good leader and preached about it frequently. He was kind and considerate and always had interesting stories. I will dearly miss him and never forget all our times together. Rich Painter Black Forest Colorado
