Obituary of Maryanne Haan

Maryanne Haan, 80, died on November 28, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She will be remembered as a GIVING, LOVING, CARING, THOUGHTFUL and Intelligent person.She was born June 26, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan, and adopted into a loving family. She has fond memories of her loving father taking her on fishing trips and summer vacations on the lakes of Michigan. She was taught at an early age to be proficient at water skiing. Maryanne attended Butterworth School of Nursing, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Upon graduating, she was advanced to Head Nurse on the Men's Surgical Ward. A few years later, she joined the Air Force, traveling the world which included England, Labrador and Spain. While stationed in Spain early on in her career, Maryanne met Maria. Maryanne was instrumental in taking care of wounded warriors who were recently evacuated out of Vietnam. Once she completed an emergency airway surgery on a patient in flight from California to Texas who was in respiratory distress.After 20 years in the Air Force, Maryanne retired as Major. While assigned in England, she became interested and fond of antiques. Upon returning to the States, she opened her own antique shop, participated in antique shows throughout the region, as well as the United States. Also, she was active in participating in many antique malls in the region. Maryanne had a great business sense, and was always precise and honest.Maryanne leaves behind Maria, her lifetime partner; sister-in-law, Sandy; nieces, Angela and Beth; nephews, Greg, Jeff and Tim; as well as many loving friends and business associates.Doing the right thing was so important to Maryanne, regardless of what hat she was wearing.Maryanne was an active member of the Society of Air Force Nurses, Inc.Memorial Service, 10:00AM, Monday, December 10, 2018, The Springs Funeral Services - North, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923.Inunrment immediately following Memorial Service at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.Celebration of Maryanne's Life immediately following services at Patty Jewett Golf Course, 900 East Espanola Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907.Contributions in Maryanne's memory may be made to the American Lung Association.
