Happy to share this. I took that picture of Ed on what turned out to be the last day i would see him. Two and a half months before his final breath. Sue and Ed were in SD with Sue doing some training so Ed and i made plans to spend the day together. I met him at their hotel. Then we went to SDSU (where we met) and walked around the campus and went and got a few mementos at the bookstore (lots of kids on scooters and bikes looking at their phones btw) Then we had lunch at one of our favorite old pizza places, Etnas, which was still there 30+ years later. I looked up at Ed and he looked so alive and at peace with such a colorful backdrop i asked if i could take his picture. And how glad i am as it is so beautiful. Had lunch. Went back to the hotel parking lot where we said goodbye. I told him i loved him. And we both just knew

I am also a fraternity brother of Ed's from SDSU Cal Delta Sigma Phi Epsilon. Like Lou Rosenberg, I also also shared a Love of Baseball with Ed and he also introduced me to Fantasy Baseball which I still enjoy doing. I have many very fond memories of attending numerous San Diego Padre games with Ed. I will miss you brother, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Jim McElroy, Sig Ep, Cal Delta '84

I'm a fraternity brother of Ed's from SDSU Cal Delta Sigma Phi Epsilon. I vividly recall meeting Ed during rush and he was so easy to talk to and we instantly bonded on sports and our love for baseball. Ed introduced me to Fantasy Baseball in the spring of 1986 and 33 years later I'm still playing and I thank Ed for introducing me to one of my favorite hobbies. You will be missed my brother and thinking about you and your family. Fondly Lou Rosenberg Cal Delta '84

Ed was a very likable and intelligent fellow. The thing that I most admired about him was his dedication to being the best father that he could be to his beloved sons ! He had a sharp wit and was always a pleasure to visit with over lunch at the cafeteria. His work ethic was above average. He was indefatigable ! May his sons understand always how much he loved them ! Vicki Sherwood Ferry.

I give you this one thought to keep I am with you still - I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not think of me as gone - I am with you still - in each new dawn. Ed was a great caring man. My deepest sympathy goes out to Sue and his children. Susann Wirkes
