How do you say "Goodbye" to such a special person and friend? The years have gone by so fast. I have known Rob for almost 50 years. I was with Vicky the night she meet Rob. That night we meet two young handsome hippies. Right away Vicky said, "I want that one" and pointed to Rob. From that day forward it was a match made in Heaven! They were married and started their wonderful family. As their family grew, so did their home. Rob kept adding on to the house with each new baby. He loved his family so much and was so proud of them. His other love was being a carpenter. He was a Master carpenter and builder. He could build anything! "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal!" Thanks Rob for all the wonderful memories you have given to all of us! Love Always, Louise

It hurts my heart that you are gone and it goes without saying that you passed doing what you loved. You'll never know what it meant to me when you visited me in the hospital. I will think of you every day. I hope Vicki knows that if there is anything I can do for her, I will be there. Not many of us left in the group where we met, l guess life marches on. Until we meet again, love you bro, Mike Hurd

I've known Rob's wife Vicky since high school, and we've maintained our lifelong friendship. I was with Rob and Vicky from the time they met. The two of them were meant to be right from the beginning. Rob was really special, unique, funny, smart, and was just a good guy. He would do anything for his family and friends. His eyes smiled when he smiled. He had his own way with words that were uniquely his, like "Righteous!!" Yes, he tried to live up to his nickname Grumpy, but he couldn't keep it up very long; he was too soft inside. He welcomed us, Vicky's 3 BFF's, any time we came to stay with them in Woodland Park. He made us fried green tomatoes and got us biscuits and gravy from the Ute. But he mostly just stepped aside and let us girls do whatever we wanted to. He made fun of us for trying to watch the Blood Moon one year, calling us "Moonies". He was just comfortable to be with, like family. The last time we were visiting, he gave us a tour of the college-wow! Our Rob is talented! He was very proud, and rightfully so. He was a good friend, and SO many will miss him. I was honored to know him. I have no doubt he is in an incredible new place, in complete joy, and bonding with his Maker. Rest In Peace, Rob-you lived a great life. Love, Sue

My name is Doug Richardson. I first met Grumpy in the early 80's when I was hired by him as a concrete form setter at Kissing Camels Estates. Over the years, we worked together at Atmel, The Palmer Center, Denver International Airport, Coors Field, and The Pepsi Center. I learned a lot from Grumpy back then. He was a great Mentor. He took great pride in his work. If people had any questions on the job, you would always go to Grumpy and he would always have the answers. I have a lot of wonderful memories of Grumpy from the good old days. He will be missed by many. Thoughts and prayers to his family during this difficult time.

Still in shock of the news of Roberts passing . I first met him about 6 years ago at the College when I called on the job for Sunstate. He was as about as nice as any GC that I had ever worked with . We quickly became friends and I am so grateful for having him in my life. Through all the job site visits, lunches and about 6 Rockies Home Openers, he always made me feel like I was more than a sales rep. I had changed my career path about 6 months ago going to the Denver area and had seen Grumpy only once until Dec 28th when he called me and said I needed to come to the College to see the progress that had happened over the past 6 months. It was so awesome to see the smile on his face as I pulled up and even better to get a big bear hug and telling me how good it was to see me. He was so proud of the College as we walked the entire site. Even saying he was almost as proud of this job as he was of The Pepsi Center and Coors Field. The two hours that I spent there was one that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I thank our Heavenly Father for that time with Robert. I will again be at the Rockies Home Opener this year, but the game will not be the same. My Prayers go out to his entire family and to the many friends that have lost this wonderful man in their lives... " If He Builds It , They Will Come "

Tony Pawlicki says so long, "Concrete Creature!" I first met Rob in the Summer of 1973 when my Brother Fred was working with Rob on the concrete foundations for some large natural gas tanks out on the East side of the Springs. He was a "force of nature" at that time already. I'd frequently run into him at the Woodland Park Post Office in later years. He delighted in mispronouncing my name as "Pack-a-lackey" as a friendly harassment. Clearly was enjoying doing a good job on the Charis construction. I'm sure his "Draggin' Ass Ranch" won't be the same without him.

My name is Bert Warchol , I first met the Grumpster on March 13th 2007 at the Mackenzie Place Senior living project in CO Springs. I was Robs building inspector on that job. My career path has followed Rob all along the way to the Charris Bible College . There's not enough space here to say how much Rob helped me grow in the construction industry. Whenever I needed advice on tough situations that involved the building industry he was always the guy that had the answer. If you needed advice on Stadium construction or huge auditoriums, just ask Rob. Rob was gentle and kind and I never saw him mad, ever. I will miss bumping into you at Safeway in Woodland Park. Rest in peace my friend Grumpy, God Bless You Rob and may the lord be with you and your family and guide them with love and strength in God during this time of grief. I miss you my fiend.
