Obituary of Norma Joan O'Neill

Norma O'Neill, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed peacefully away on May 11, 2019.� Norma was born in Owosso, Michigan to Norman and Mary McGillvray on August 20, 1927. Norma is survived by her three children Peggy McCoy (Mark), Patrick O'Neill (Liz Breza) and by Cathy O'Neill. She is also survived by her three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Norma was married to William O'Neill in Long Beach, CA in 1948, and for the next 20 years she traveled the world as a military wife and mother.� During the course of her husband's military career, Norma lived in several states within the USA, and she also lived in France, Germany and Japan.� While in these locations, Norma traveled extensively throughout both Europe and Asia. �Norma moved to Colorado Springs in the summer of 1965 and she lived here until her passing.Norma was an avid bowler, she also enjoyed watching figure skating at the Broadmoor World Arena and on television, and she liked the penny slots in Cripple Creek. Norma learned and specialized in cooking local delicacies while in Europe and Japan. Norma was an inveterate collector of gadgets, knickknacks and little perfume bottles. �She was an animal lover and had many beloved companion pets over the years.Norma's true passion in life was her family.� Her devotion was evident and pure.� Norma was a kind, gentle and loving soul.� She delighted in her family's joys and accomplishments, and she was ever present to offer comfort and support during difficult times. Norma was very involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.� Norma was a Room Mother, a Girl Scout Troop Leader and she attended every one of her son's many baseball games between 1961 and 1970. �As adults, her children and their families scattered from Colorado Springs and Norma traveled worldwide, including Canada and Australia, to visit her children and grandchildren. Norma, on a visit to San Diego, ended up driving a grandchild to school and spun the tires incurring the nickname of "the little ole grandma from Colorado Springs."
