I think of Zach often. A beautiful, giving soul. He is so very missed by the many, many blessed to have known him.

I just felt the need to echo the sentiments of others reflecting upon Zach's positivity. My fond memories of him always include his cheerful smile and super enthusiastic greetings. He was full of compliments and made others around him feel good about themselves. His optimism was contagious and he showed great appreciation for things that others might take for granted. His love for his family was evident and he was not hesitant to make it known. He was a joy to be around, a bright light that will be greatly missed. Jeanne Guest

I remember the first day Zach walked into my kindergarten classroom. He told me he was so excited about the adventures we would have and specifically, what would we be reading? Halfway through the school year, I remember him politely asking me if we could get a liiiitle bit longer chapter books and could they be just a liiiittle bit harder, holding up his precious two little fingers to show me -just a little bit at first and then his fingers spread further apart -as if to say that the 100 page chapter books were not cutting it for him! He was always looking for a challenge! I was pregnant that year and struggling to bend down to tie my shoes. Zach was still learning to tie his shoes, too. Still, he never failed to check my shoes before we went out to recess to make sure they were tied and if they weren't, he would try his best to tie the laces up In a knot so I wouldn't trip. He was always thinking of other people and how he could help. I think he got that from his mom. I'll never forget the time someone asked him how he felt after doing a very kind deed. With a big grin on his face, he said "I'm happier than a monkey eating his first banana"! He was like that every time I saw him. From the time he was five and up he was "outstanding", kind, and seeking understanding and perspective. I cherish the memories of him sleeping over with Tyler at our house and coming down in his navy blue bathrobe and slippers for crepes. He was just so grateful and generous with his compliments, that I would've made him 1 million crepes! In high school he patiently and lovingly taught my son Matthew to play the piano. So selfless. Zach, you stole my heart the day you walked into my classroom 17 years ago and there you will always be.

My dear Zach, you expanded my heart and life in ways I did not expect or know to expect. You deepened the extraordinary bond your mom and dad shared with Gary and myself. We learned that love shows up in all forms and sizes. We learn through our children, Zach. You grew us, expanded us and pushed us beyond what we might have done ourselves. And you know what, Zach? We think we know what love is...and then we have children. Thank you for the gift of you, Zach and bringing the tremendous joy you did, to your mom and dad. We will see you in the flowers, the mountains...in the wink of a cat or the page of a book. And when the gentle breeze blows, your mom and dad will feel your kiss. Zach, peace now. You are in Good Hands.

Zach's presence and sunny disposition will be missed. Those of us at CSM cannot express how much we loved having Zach in our lives - from Dungeons and Dragons to study groups and classes, he brought his full personality to us in every moment. His absence will be felt, but the memories we have will live on and encourage us to do better for our classmates. I'm so sorry for your loss as a family. I hope he has found the peace he needed.

My deepest sympathy for your loss. May you find comfort in Jehovah God's promise to soon end all our suffering and swallow up death forever (Revelation 21:3-5; Isaiah 25:8). Peace to you during this difficult time.
