Miss Nina. What a true friend you have been. You were always there to give advice, make me laugh, share your stories of your life growing up on the ranch. I still remember when you helped me make tamales. Those were the best. Of course loved all the baking you used to make! We had some good times together which I will always treasure. You are one of a kind. You will be missed but always remembered for your wit, humor, kindness and your never ending spunkiness!! Until we meet again. Your friend Ruth Pacheco

Ah Nina, I will miss you until we can be together again. You were always my constant in a changing life. We had so many wonderful years. You shared your life stories with me and we did wonderful things together. Some we shared with our children and some we kept to ourselves. Our kids were able to grow up together and they think of them as brothers and sister. I remember when you took classes to get certified as a herbologist and the batches of herbs you made. You even tried to get my husband to take them for his Asthma. Being a medical doctor he was leery but you did get him to try it. Always ready for an adventure. Hiking down Pikes, girls only showing the boys girls could to it too. You beat the boys too and had to wait for them. I was there when you got married. You picked a great mate. The love in your home was real and you generously shared it. Thank you for being my other sister. You will always be in my heart. Roxene Eaton

Nina was one of a kind and held in my heart as a surrogate mom. I will miss her deeply and know your kids are hurting right now. We had some great times listening to musicals on the record player. Yes, vinyl was a thing then. I was living with her when John Lennon was shot and killed. She taught me about ferrets, let Mathew and I house sit for a rather unusual gal. We camped, rock hounded and hiked. Mostly I remember her laugh and how she could always hold me together when I thought the world was coming down. I guess that is what every teenager thinks. I loved her stories about scaring her mom with critters when she lived in New Mexico. That story still makes me giggle. She had more black clothes than anyone I ever knew. Lori Dedmon
