Obituary of Deng Syhabouth

Deng Syhabouth went home to her husband, our father, So Syhabouth, on November 19, 2019. She loved gardening, sewing, knitting, telling stories, spending time with our father and cooking for her children and grandchildren. Her purpose in life was providing for her family. She made a house a home regardless of where she was, caring for her family that extended beyond her friends to her community.Deng defied the test of time as a refugee during the Vietnam War to be with her husband fleeing with two young children in tow, and reluctantly leaving her two oldest upon her mother's request. Together, they came to the United States looking to build a better life, but always ensuring their family back in Laos was taken care of. She is lovingly remembered as a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and niece. Deng is survived by her eight children, Ketsorma (Ott), Phanomphone (Dham), Savathbangone (Michael), Ketsamone (Charles), Tony (Ceili), Ellee (Warren), Mima (Joshua) and Fontey (Juan); and her grandchildren, Phousamone, Soukthavone, Alounphone, Duang, Phatt, Onouma, Chucky, Noa, Brianna, Austin, Mailikai and Laela.
