Obituary
Obituary of Barbara Jane Telsmeyer
Barbara Jane Telsmeyer and her twin sister, Beverly, were born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on February 28, 1928. She passed away in Colorado Springs, Colorado on December 2, 2019 at the age of 91. Barbara's father was a salesman and she, along with her mother and sisters, lived together in several locations in Michigan, Georgia and Florida before settling in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1944. While in high school and after graduating she worked various jobs, mostly together with her twin sister, Beverly, as a waitress, receptionist and telephone operator. She and Beverly both had ideal voices and great composure for handling telephone calls and almost always dressed alike when they were together. Barbara married Conrad Erickson in 1946 and had two sons, Craig and Brent. However, Conrad had an untimely death from a heart condition in 1954. She then moved in with her late husband's parents, Yrio and Gladys Erickson, with the two boys until marrying Urban Telsmeyer in 1959. Her daughter, Tami, was born later that year. She raised her family in Cincinnati with Urban until he retired from the Proctor & Gamble Company in 1979. Subsequently they moved to Ocala, Florida where they lived together until 2005, when they moved to San Antonio, Texas. Following Urban's death in 2006, Barbara continued to live in San Antonio, Texas near her son, Craig, until moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado with Craig and his family in 2016.Barbara was mostly a homemaker for her husbands and family, but she also continued to work secretarial jobs and as a greeting card merchandiser. While she played card games, golfed and socialized with Urban and their many friends, she particularly liked to dance. She and Urban were great dance partners, particularly dancing to the music of the big band era of the 50's and 60's. Most of all, Barbara was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt to all her family. She enjoyed sharing in the achievements of her children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She always sent greeting cards and letters and gave nice, personal gifts, some of which she made herself. She was always pleasant to be with and she was a good listener, imparting counsel if you sought it, but always showing great concern and giving lots of love. She is missed by all who knew her. Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Charles Butzine; her mother, Beulah Mikel Butzine; her sisters, Beverly Johnson and Patricia Mean; and her brother, Neil Verburg; and her husbands, Conrad Erickson and Urban Telsmeyer. She is survived by her sons, Craig Erickson and Brent Erickson; and her daughter, Tami Bovard. She leaves grandchildren, Amanda Robinson, Amber Gee, Somer Erickson, Eliot Erickson, Brooklyn Bovard and Nathan Bovard; and great-grandchildren, Paul, Emma and Maisy Robinson, and Taron and Millie Gee; as well as several loving nephews and nieces.
