Obituary of Frederick Richard Davison

Frederick Richard Davison was welcomed home to heaven March 12, 2020 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born February 25, 1935 in Walsenburg, Colorado to Wilbur and Sarah (Hill) Davison.Fred moved to Las Animas, Colorado when he was young and worked on the family dairy farm. He married Shirley McGee in 1955 and stayed in love for sixty-four years. In 1962 he found his dream job as the comptroller for Williams Chevrolet in La Junta, Colorado.� In 1969 he moved the family with Williams Chevrolet to Colorado Springs, Colorado and continued as the comptroller until he retired in 2005. Fred was a fabulous son, husband, brother, son-in-law, father, uncle, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He loved spending time with family and friends, unofficially adopted many, and was extremely active in his church, with Quaker Ridge Camp and Evangelical Friends Mission.He was known as the "Candy Man" at church because he always had a treat ready for anyone, young or old. The great-grandchildren could always count on him to have a roll of Smarties Candy hiding behind his back. Fred loved camping, fishing with the boys, hiking with the girls, traveling the world, playing games with family, reading, and playing Sudoku. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Jane (McGee) Davison; his daughters, Debbie (John) Martin and Sheree (Dan) Pauly; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Cammie), Shane (Sarah), Lauren (Travis), Michael and Cole (Alyssa); eight great-grandchildren; brother, Luis; sisters, Sarah, Stella, Fran, and Caroline.� Fred sang "Because He Lives" to every baby born to the family. His family will miss him more than can be conveyed. There is comfort that he will be in the loving arms of his Savior and he will one day greet them again with a huge kiss and hug. Private Visitation and Interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado will be held for the family. Memorial Service for family and friends will be determined at a later date.
