I was blessed with having you as my Platoon Sergeant in B Battery 1/21 Field Artillery Fort Hood Texas from 1981 to 1983 and I will always be grateful for everything you taught me. You were a great leader and the one who molded me into the leader I became. I remember the times you went fishing and brought the fish over to my house for my wife to cook them for us. I will miss you and always remember you. Thank you for everything and until we meet again May God keep you in his arms. Angel Medina U.S Army CSM (RET).

I want to pass my condolences to the family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected ... Richard was my hunting buddy... I always loved and enjoyed coming out to Colorado springs and seeing Richard and Miss Bonnie... They always made me feel like I was part of the family... Richard taught me a lot about that part of the United States... I'll come back out there, but it won't be the same... Rest in peace Richard and Bonnie... You will be truelly missed..... And to the kids, y'all had some awesome parents... I loved them both.... If I can be of any help, just give me a holler... God bless each and everyone.... I was very sad and shocked to hear the news about Richard. My husband, Dan and I enjoyed his company at our Postal Retiree Breakfasts. We talked about family travels, the post office, the military and life in general. He was fun to talk to and always had a smile when talking to him. He also always displayed his Military rank, which indicated to me he was proud to serve his country. He will be dearly missed. Fly high with the angels Richard!! RIP Kay and Dan Milano

when we were kids, I was the kid sister, I don't remember what I done to him to aggravate him so bad but I remember he grab me took me out side and rolled me into some sandspurs and I had long hair at that time. then my oldest sister tried to brush the sandspurs out and of course I was small and pitching a fit , so they decided to cut my hair .Then boy did our dad get mad. out of all my brothers Richard is the one to look most like our dad

We lived on a farm. A one day he saw a rabbit. And he decided he was going to catch that rabbit. He took off after the rabbit running and turning and stopping and the going again and again right across the fields. But he finally caught the rabbit. He was so proud of himself because he caught that rabbit while he was bare footed. Then he had to put the rabbit into a box. Cause he had to sit down and get the sandspurs out of his bare feet. Can you just imagine ignoring pain because you were determine to catch a rabbit

Knowing Richard for only 30 years was not enough. Ran into him in many many places. Always chatted and never was a bad word between us. Richard was a very understanding and honest person.. I was proud to know him . He was a man I would have been proud to have him as a brother. Will sure miss him at our Veterans Lunches.

To the Sweat Family, I am truly sorry for your Loss. I met Richard at the Colorado Springs General Mail Facility. He was a good and caring person. Every time he came across Military or Postal info, he would share that information with me. After I Retired from the Post Office, he informed me of the Postal Retiree Breakfast. What an Awesome Guy!
