Obituary of Susan Kay Larsen
Susan K. Larsen, 65, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away peacefully from this world on June 7, 2020 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 20, 1955, in Brigham City, Utah to Harold and Lela Tanner. Later her family relocated to Sandy, Utah where she lived with her parents and other siblings prior to moving to Colorado Springs. Susan graduated from Mitchell High School where she was involved in student government, early morning seminary, and the singing youth group "Up with People". After high school graduation she received a florist degree from a Denver florist design school. She spent time working with her father in his interior design studio prior to meeting her husband, Richard L. Larsen. They were married on January 7, 1975 in the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to this union three amazing children were added. Susan was a homemaker for most of her life, supporting her husband in their assisted living business for twenty-nine years. She was very gifted in the art of sewing, stained glass, baking, quilting blankets, crocheting, scrap-booking and other various crafts. Susan served in many leadership callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaching young women ages 12-18 and children ages 3-10. Her last calling in the church was serving faithfully as a nursery leader for eleven years and also as a volunteer with her husband in the Denver temple. Her favorite pastime, when not serving others, was to be with her family and/or friends at the family mountain cabin or on an extended vacation with her family. She loved supporting her children in their chosen career, sports, school, church, and musical activities. Grandma time with Emma, Adaline, and Mia was the highlight of her days. She loved roses, four-wheeling in the Colorado Mountains and a nice warm fire at the cabin surrounded by those she loved. Susan is preceded in death by her mother, Lela Tanner; and granddaughter, Lela Amber Larsen. She is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Mandy S. Larsen, Dustin R. (Amber) Larsen, both of Colorado Springs and Bently Larsen of Maricopa, Arizona. She is also survived by granddaughters, Emma, Adaline and Mia Larsen; as well as her father, Harold H.
