I am heartbroken to have read this. I have been overwhelmed by the flood of childhood memories we shared growing up. Jeff and I met when we were four years old and immediately became best friends. I remember the day, one summer, we were riding our BMX bikes. We were 14 or 15 years old, sitting under a tree in some shade, talking about what we were going to do with our lives. That is when we decided we would get guitars, learn to play, and become musicians in our own band. It wasn't long until we each had a new guitar and amplifier and started to take lessons. It was quickly evident that Jeff had a beautiful gift. He quickly surpassed me in skill and just exponentially became better and better as each week went by. I switched to Bass guitar and along with Allen Frisby on drums, we started practicing as a three-piece band. It was a special, magical time that I still look back on and smile. While the rest of us were happy playing rock and roll, Jeff discovered Classical and Spanish guitar and had the courage to pursue his own musical love. He was the best guitar player I have ever seen. We grew up and life took us different directions. I haven't spoken to him for quite some time. Goodbye my friend. My childhood best friend. I am heartbroken for your family, Joan and Buddy, and all the rest of your family. Thank you for all the happy childhood memories. Until we meet again in the next world, I will think back fondly, and with plenty of tears, on all the good times we had.

Jeff was my locker partner in High School and he was my friend... He had this "Rocker" guitar player image, a band and fabulous hair! Underneath, was a wise and gentle soul, even at that age, who played Classical Spanish acoustic guitar that brought tears my eyes and a joy to my heart that I have never forgotten. I have called upon that memory of Jeff, sitting atop the lookout at Palmer Park, playing his guitar, in between classes on a golden hued autumn day... the serenity of that moment and my awe at the notes he played, dancing on the air with the leaves ...it music the likes of which I had never heard before, and coupled with Jeff's ability to transform and transport and to be transported himself into another world than this when he played...many times, I have called upon that memory of the beautiful young man with the incredibly old soul and been lifted by what he revealed to me that day about life -in that brief moment, about music, transcendence and honoring ones path. I am blessed and transformed for having known Jeff. I cannot begin to imagine the depth of his loss to you, his family, my heart goes out to you and carries part of him in it for you.
