Obituary of Michael "Mike" Eugene Boland

Michael Eugene Boland, 72, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Saturday, October 31, 2020.Michael was born on April 6, 1948 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Eugene and Ora Lee Boland.Along with his sisters, Linda and Sherry, he grew up in Choctaw, Oklahoma. He graduated from Lee College in Cleveland, Tennessee, where he met his wife, Sue. They were married in 1968, and spent 52 happy years together.A minister his entire adult life, Michael became pastor of his first congregation while still in college. He would go on to head churches in Texas, Kansas, and Colorado. Later, he was ordained by God as a prophet and called to spread His word. He would spend the last several decades of his life speaking to gatherings in dozens of states and provinces across North America, as often as seven days a week (and twice on Sundays!).A devoted family man, Mike was also a friend to all, beloved far and wide for his good nature and sense of humor. He was a lover of life, a curious sort who, before he found his calling as a man of God, dreamed of becoming a diplomat. Mike loved to travel and explore, and while he remained an avid hunter and fisherman, he was a serial hobbyist and collector of guns and other objects but also experiences and memories. Mike's storytelling skill was renowned, as befits someone who lived a full life.Mike is survived by his wife, Sue Boland; his children, Steve Boland and Bethany Poppele; and his grandchildren, Josh Garner, Abby Garner, and Lucas Boland.He will also be dearly missed by the thousands whose lives he touched.Memorial Service, 2:00PM, Saturday, November 7, 2020, Springs Church, 1515 Auto Mall Loop, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80920.
