Every time I walk out my door and see the beautiful shed that Jim and Melva put up for me I'm grateful for the time we were friends. I think about Jim and what a good man he was. To have been married over 50 years to the same person is pretty much a miracle these days. He loved his family with all his heart and was a great example of what a husband and father should be. He was a really great human being and is missed.

With deepest sympathy written from Al & Darlene Castaldo. Jim and I met in 1972, we became good friends very quick! We worked on many aircraft together and confided in each other. I valued his opinions as he did mine! He introduced me to his lovely wife, Melva, and two children, Jim and Julie. When Jim and I discussed anything it was kept between us and our conversations were never divulged to anyone else! I considered Jim as a chosen brother and the Meyer family as my very own! Jim was a good family man and his family meant the world to him! I feel like I lost part of my family, good friends like Jim can never be replaced. Jim will be deeply missed by both of us, but never forgotten! Jim Meyer and family will always remain in our hearts forever!!

Uncle Jim was always so good to me. The first memory I have of him is at Gram's house. I was just a kid, maybe 10 or 11. I was trying to draw a flower. Jim was very artistic. He sat down and taught me how to draw a rose. I kept that rose for many years. He made a lasting impression on me that day. I appreciate that he always had time for me whenever I popped up through out the years. I and sending all the family my love.

We will miss our friend Jim. He was always quick with a smile and had a sharp wit about him. Though we didn't spend as much time as we would have liked with him and his life's partner, Melva, we will look back fondly on those moments we did spend together. We are grateful to have known him. Harry and Holly James.

I first knew my dear friend Melva through our careers and in time met her great husband, Jim and their son and daughter and his little granddaughter. Jim was fun to be around, always making us laugh, but he was also very genuine and down to earth. He, Melva and their son built a spa deck and finished my basement and he was quite meticulous in his work. Jim was a good guy in a ‘White Hat'! Jim and Melva are true to heart and to God and I am so thankful to have had them in my life. R.I.P. My Friend ~ Melva you are in my prayers ~

I met Jim a little over a decade ago and liked him immediately. His smile was infectious, inviting you into the company of a genuine gentleman, dependable and generous to a fault. I found that I had to be careful what I said around him. If I happened to casually mention that I needed or wanted something he was apt to go out of his way to help me. I wish I had gone out of my way to be around him more. I considered him a friend in the true sense. Along with many of you I always remember and miss him. Melva, Jeanie and I have you in our prayers. I will alway remember the day circa 1978-79. We had some snow in our neighborhood oh about 3-4 feet. And Troy and I thought we would earn some $$ shoveling snow. We ask Jim Meyer if he would pay us 10$ to shovel his two car driveway. He knew he was getting a bargain. We (Troy and I) could not finish the job, in fact we had barely begun to shovel before we tired out and just went home. No exchange of money or service. Jim Meyer is a respected man and admired by me.

Jim will also be remembered as a friend who was there for his neighbors even if it meant 4 days in the wind putting up a shed for them with Melva providing the snacks and encouragement. He was a trusted and respected friend who had a soft spot for stray cats. He will be missed by many!
