Obituary of Joseph M. Rothkopf

Joseph "Joe" M. Rothkopf passed away at age 67, surrounded by his life partner, Dianne, and children, Brook and Sidney, on Friday, December 4, 2020, after three weeks of battling COVID-19.Joe was a kind and gentle man, who always wanted to create the best life for those around him and enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends any chance he could. Joe spent the last twenty-three years living in Colorado with Dianne. He was born December 31, 1952 in New York, New York, which was a perfect birthday for an accountant's child. He was the son of David and Esther Rothkopf. Joe grew up in Laurelton, New York and enjoyed spending a few weeks each summer with his family at his grandparents' home in White Meadow Lake, New Jersey.Upon completing Pharmacy School at St. John's University in 1976, Joe started his career in Great Neck, New York, but moved to Colorado in 1997 to continue his career. He was working as a pharmacist at the San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation until his death.His life and memory will always be more than his success as a pharmacist, as he loved to travel and share those experiences with others. Joe was given the travel bug early in life when taking memorable vacations with his parents and brother across the United States and even to Israel. He continued to share this love of travel with Dianne, children and friends, taking multiple vacations each year.Besides his beautiful life partner, Dianne Lloyd, he leaves his daughter, Brook (Charles) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three adoring grandchildren, Eve, Autumn, and Lincoln; son, Sidney (Jessica) of Castle Rock, Colorado; brother, Mitchell (Susan) of Canton, Massachusetts; niece, Ilana (Andrew) of Brewster, Massachusetts; nephew, William (Vicky) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; aunt Riva; cousin Sari and cousin Jonathon of Wantagh, New York.He will now be reunited with his father and mother, David and Esther.The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Penrose Main Hospital's ICU nurses and doctors for the loving care and comfort they provided to Joe.Memorial contributions in Joseph's memory may be made to Jewish Family Service, https://www.jewishfamilyservice.org/Graveside Service, 11:30AM, Wednesday, December 9, 2020, Calhan Memorial Cemetery, on the corner of Hahn Road and 8th Street off Highway 24, Calhan, Colorado 80808.
