Obituary of Helen Eva Spencer

Helen Eva Spencer, 60, passed away quietly and sweetly on December 14, 2020 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was surrounded by her husband, Andy; brother-in-law, Tom and the thoughtful caring staff at St. Francis Hospital. She was born February 8, 1960 in Taos, New Mexico to Harry Maurice, Sr. and Anastasia "Sia" (Economou) Packard.Helen graduated from Sandia High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She received her associate in Arts Degree from Foothill College Palo Alto, California. She loved to travel. Helen's favorite destination was the Hawaiian Islands. She loved to bring along friends and family on these trips. Helen also loved cruising and made many cruises to the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and the Pacific. Mostly she enjoyed being around friends and family and always made everyone feel warm and welcomed. Helen was known as "Helen Hallmark", because she never forgot anyone's birthday or special occasion and would send out hand picked Hallmark cards with special stamps and stickers to all. She was the best "aunt" to everyone, even non-family members. She loved everyone, and was loved by all that knew her.She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Anastasia Packard; sister, Deborah O'Brien; and brother, Murl Boston.Helen is survived by her husband, Andrew "Andy" Spencer; brother, Harry Packard, Jr.; and sister, Vera Topping; and many other loving family members. To have great friends you must be a great friend. She was that to all. Some comments from her friends:- Helen was the purest person and friend.- I got out all her cards that she gave me over the years and read them all. - We loved her, and will miss her so much!- She was an amazing woman and will miss her laughter, smile and caring ways.- My condolences for the loss of that beautiful woman who gave so much to so many.- She will surely be missed. Heaven truly received another angel last night.- What a great loss to us all.- Helen was at time my best friend at times my big sister and on many occasions my mother! In Helen's professional life she was an accountant, she worked for the companies: Mitsui Advanced Media, Inc. Colorado Springs, Colorado from March 1999 - March 2000 as a credit and collections specialist; Computer Sciences Corp, Dallas, Texas from November 1992 - October 1998 as a Flood Insurance Manager; Integrated Systems inc, San Jose, California from June 1988 - June 1989 as a Office Manager; and at Advanta Corp. Horsham, Pennsylvania from August 1984 - June 1988 as a senior staff accountant.I married my amazing and wonderful wife July 14, 1984. She had battled breast cancer since October 2018. Helen fought this insidious disease with every ounce of her being. She was the definition of an optimist. Even in her last weeks if asked how she was doing, she'd say "good" and give a thumbs up. Helen never quit, never gave up the fight. My heart is broken. The family is planning a ceremony on July 14, 2021 in Taos, New Mexico. The family would like to thank the staff of Rocky Mountain Cancer Center, Penrose Hospital (Main), and Saint Francis Hospital. They were caring, friendly, and wonderful to her the entire time.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Helen's memory may be made to your favorite charity.
