Obituary of Judy Kay Friesth
Judy Kay Friesth, age 74, passed away January 20, 2021 due to acute myeloid leukemia (AML). She was born on August 29, 1946 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to the late Kenneth Jay Norris and Marjorie (Clayton) Norris. Judy had three siblings, Jayne (Doug) Worthington (deceased), Vicki (Frank) Anselmo and Kenneth Jay (Jill) Norris, Jr.She graduated Wasson High School in Colorado Springs in 1964, graduated Colorado State University in1968, and earned her masters in education-guidance and counseling in 1977. She married Dennis Friesth in 1971.Judy had a passion for teaching, literature and photography, all of which she employed in a thirty year teaching career in the Widefield School District (opening both Janitell Junior High and Mesa Ridge High Schools) where she taught english and yearbook. She loved hearing how former students succeeded, proudly displayed the yearbooks she invested her time and leadership towards every year. Judy loved to travel, both across the United States and internationally. She was never far from a book or a camera. Judy also loved knitting, anything from blankets for her children or baby hats for the hospital's NICU. She lit up when making Christmas cookies with her granddaughter, reading to and Facetimeing with her grandsons, and bragging on her children. After battling multiple serious health issues she lost her fierce fight on January 20 at 6:25PM. She died of AML with complications from sepsis. Always a private person, she waited for family which had been with her all day to go to dinner. She will now join her father, Kenneth Jay Norris; mother, Marjorie (Clayton) Norris; stepfather, Robert Clayton; sister, Jayne Worthington; nephew, Anthony Anselmo; and grandson, Jack Friesth. She is survived by her husband; two children, Lori (Rob) O'Blennis and Eric (Krystal) Friesth; grandchildren, Xavier O'Blennis, Ashlyn Friesth, and Gustav O' Blennis; and siblings, Vicki Anselmo and Kenneth Jay Norris, Jr. A private Memorial Service will be held 9:00AM,Wednesday, March 17, 2021.Memorial contributions can be made in Judy's memory to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at charity. gofundme.com/in-memory-of-judy-friesth.
