I just now heard about Garrett's passing into eternal life. I met him a couple of times on the sidewalk at PP, where he brought friends AJ and Jared to pray to end abortion. In our brief encounters, I could sense his love for life, and love of Christ, and wanting to do the Lord's will. To all who knew him, I'm sorry for the pain you are experiencing. Take comfort in knowing he is with Jesus. Joseph Hourigan

Privileged to know, even briefly, such a fine young man and a pro-life warrior. He has inspired me, as I know he has inspired most people he encountered. I will never forget him. Know you, Rob, Holly, Quentin and Blake, are in my prayers.

I remember while on pilgrimage I once asked Garrett why he had chosen to go to the Holy Land. He responded, because he wanted to get to know Jesus better. Now he knows Jesus very intimately. While on pilgrimage Garrett began altar serving for Fr. David. Every day I would give Garrett a new tip for serving. In those 2 weeks Garrett went from "just stand there and watch what Fr. David does" to looking as if he had been serving all his life. He even knew when to ring the bells during the epiclesis. Instead of planting a tree in Garrett's memory, I will pray a rosary in front of the nearby abortion clinic (PP). I will pray for at least one child to be given the chance to live - on behalf of Garrett.

Besides the fact the Garrett was an amazing person all around, going back to about 3rd grade football...but I will always remember a special memory. When our friend/family/brother Jagr passed a few months ago, Garrett went out of his way to contact my son Sam, to see if he can say something on Sam's behalf as Garrett knew Sam could not attend. Sam and Jagr were best friends! Garrett always had a smile on his face, and was always positive! We will miss him dearly, but he will remain in our hearts forever! You all are in our prayers ❤️ With love, Cathy, "Coach" Fred, and Sam Jackson Here are a couple of photos...if they don't come out, let me know and I'll send them

Hi Marchetti family, I'm so sorry for your loss. Although I only knew Garrett for a short amount of time, he really made a big impression on me. When I heard the news, I wrote something in my journal. I would like to share it with you, since it includes my most striking memory of Garrett. I hope this can help to be a healing thing for you. -- 1/29/21 Today, I heard that Garrett Marchelli passed away. He was a sophomore at CWRU. Nineteen years old. I had met him his freshman year when he responded to a simple flyer: Want a deeper spiritual life? He had recently had a spiritual revolution in his own life-meeting the Lord Jesus for himself in a trip to Israel that summer. This sparked all the tindering of his catholic upbringing into a deep desire to know God, read His word, and live out a faith for the benefit of others. Over that first year at Case, we read through the gospel of John together. He was also very involved in the Newmann student group and in Case for Life as well. My most striking memory of Garrett was in one of those times we got together to read. Instead of reading, he had a lot of questions regarding hell, salvation, and those who do not know the Savior. This came about from an experience he had that week, while he was in class. "If people are going to hell," he exclaimed, "then what am I doing just sitting here in biology class? Someone needs to tell them! We need to do something!" This was not mere doctrine; the Holy Spirit had worked something in him. I discouraged him from dropping out right there and then, but after that, I knew there was fire in him. We began to pray for his friends, especially his roommate at that time. And so, I mourn. Mourn because although it is far better to be with Christ, I mourn that his heart for his friends, for the unsaved, and for the unborn may not ever be fully expressed here in time. I mourn, and on his behalf, I would like to share a passage from the gospel of John that we had read together. John 3:13 - 15 says, "No one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life." This is the word of the Lord. He was lifted up on the cross for our sins. Look! See him through faith. Believe and know, really know, as Garrett did, that you have eternal life.

Garrett was an amazing young man with such care, compassion and strong faith. He was one of the first people we met as we were introduced to him formally at PRHS open house in the spring of 2018. He talked to us about football, band, scouts, honor society and more. We were blessed by the chance to spend much more time, quality time with him the past 10 months through our church. Garrett was instrumental in helping bring more high school teens to St. Peter's youth group. He gave the teens courage to stand up for the unborn. He was passionate about life and devoted a large part of himself to Mary, the Mother of Jesus.Garrett always mentioned that he just wanted to become the man his mother hoped he would be ❤️ It was a true blessing to be part of Garrett's life and we are forever grateful for the gifts he shared with us in Faith. We miss miss Garrett terribly but he will never be forgotten. We will do our best to keep spreading the seeds Garrett planted. Our deepest sympathies Rob, Blake, Quentin, Holly and the entire family. We love you and we will be keeping you close in prayer for the days, weeks and months to come. Praying for the repose of the soul of Garrett . Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
