Obituary of Raymond Fernand Limoges
Raymond F. Limoges, 81, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away February 7, 2021 peacefully at home.� He was born February 21, 1939 to Fernand and Theresa Limoges in Ogdensburg, New York.� Ray went to high school at Ogdensburg Free Academy and graduated in 1956. He later earned an Associates degree from Canton Tech and a B.S. from Rochester Institute of Technology.�He began his career as a Mechanical Engineer with Kodak in 1962 and retired from Kodak after thirty-five years in 1996.�His proudest achievement was working on a camera system for the Lunar Orbiter to take pictures of the moon in advance of the Apollo missions.� Neil Armstrong used a camera system developed by Ray's team at Kodak.After retirement, Ray and Shirley moved to the mountains of Glenwood Springs, Colorado.�He loved building houses for Habitat for Humanity and helped to organize the Roaring Fork Valley chapter.�Ray received the Humanitarian of the Year award from Garfield County for his contributions with Habitat.� He was also active in a restorative justice program for youth, and helped establish a scholarship for students interested in the trades.� Ray very much enjoyed skiing, biking, and hiking around their home in Glenwood Springs. Ray was a devoted father and grandfather and he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was a loving husband of fifty-eight years.� He is preceded in death by his parents, Theresa (LeBel) Limoges and Fernand Limoges; also his sisters, Nancy Frye and Annette Smith.� He is survived by his wife, Shirley Wolford Limoges; and his brother, Ronald E. Limoges (Alison Sanders); and daughters, Theresa (Odie) Killen and Laura (Walter) Limoges-Erwin; and his son, Robert Raymond (Jennifer O'Donnell) Limoges. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Abigail and Amanda Thompson, Matthew, William and Charlotte Erwin, Thomas and Adam Limoges, and Aiden and Kathrine Killen.Memorial contributions in Ray's memory may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 1630 Grand Avenue, Glenwood Springs, Colorado 81601.The family wishes to express their gratitude to Compassus Hospice and Amada Home Health caregivers.A private Memorial Service will be held 1:00PM, Saturday, February 20, 2021.
