We (Ahod Services) met Darrell while assisting him to move back into the community after his accident. He was very kind hearted and giving. He used his past experiences to help people. He was a very good cook and would sometimes feed his neighbors. He will be missed.

Darrell was 10 years older than me. When you're little, that age gap is significant, but Darrell did not see it this way; rather, he saw this as a responsibility to be my protector, as our big brother was for him and our sister. My family has ALWAYS told me that Darrell was my protector -- saving me from all trouble when I was little :-). I laugh when I think of the stories Tracy (our sister) tells me. As an adult, Darrell was still my protector, even taking up for me when I wasn't even around. I'm glad, no, I'm so very thankful, we had a bond as adults. As I write this, and whether he knew it or not, I realize Darrell was a reflection of strength and perseverance. His most-recent past adversity was a TRUE testament of that. I don't question why God chose to bring him home at this time, but I do thank God for giving Darrell another opportunity, because it brought us all closer together. I WILL miss my big brother (especially those home potatoes he would fix -LOL). Thank you, Darrell. I love you!

Dear Cousin Darrell, I will always remember us growing up in Germantown. I hadn't seen you since Norfolk VA but we've talked on the phone. It's strange that you will not be calling for your Aunt Yvonne or to say Hi. I love you and will miss you. My heart is hurting. Jesus, please watch or my family. Darrell, I remember all of good times we shared at 6980 quicksilver drive in colorado springs. I also remember you slicing the bacon in half ,etc.However, my cuz, I will miss you dearly, Rip, know more worries, no pain, now joy has finally came. See you on thee other side. Darrell was a friend. I only knew Darrell for about 4 years. I knew him to be kind to others and grateful for the friends he had made before and during a horrific and dehibilating encounter. He said if that had not happened he would not have made the friends he made who supported his struggles to get recover and move forward to be a better person. He liked to stay busy helping out around the grounds where he lived and he kept a clean house. Having received a culinary degree, Darrell was always wanting to cook for everybody. Covid made that a difficult challenge though. Darrell was a good person and will be missed by his Colorado family.
