Obituary of John Creque
John Creque passed to his eternal rest July 11, 2021 at the age of 57. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, he graduated in 1983 from Washington High School. John lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado during his final days. An avid outdoorsman, John loved exploring the Arizona desert and mountains, as well as the high country of the Rocky Mountains, typically rock crawling in his beloved Jeep Rubicon. Always willing to assist those in distress, he often helped assist with extrication of stranded vehicles while four-wheeling, receiving praise from grateful off-road enthusiasts. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1994, John worked for various plumbing supply companies in the Phoenix area, as well as Schwan's food service in the Springs, as a commercial truck driver, moving merchandise along the Front Range. A history enthusiast, John loved exploring closed mines and historical sites in both states. He was a voracious reader, especially well-versed in WWII history. While serving in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, he was able to explore WWII historical sites and some of particular familial relevance. John loved animals, particularly dogs (Tasha, Mutt-mutt, and Liberty) and birds, as well as most wildlife. Even though he was reluctant to admit it, he loved people, and could be very gregarious at times. His banter will be missed. The son of Anna and Gerald Creque (both deceased), John is survived by brother, Al Creque, and his wife, Trina, of Lexington, Kentucky; sister, Mary Ann Creque of Colorado Springs; nephew, Tim Creque of South Lebanon, Ohio; and niece, Stephanie Ghantous, and her husband, Robert, of Liberty Township, Ohio.John was of generous heart and had a wicked sense of humor. He was as determined as he was stubborn and confident in his perspective on most topics. John's cremated remains will be distributed in the Bradshaw Mountains near Phoenix, Arizona where he loved to explore in his Jeep and ride ATV's. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the following organizations may be made to honor John's extraordinary life and patriotic service to our great country: The Purple Heart Foundation at support.purpleheartfoundation.org/team/366132; The Gary Sinise Foundation at garysinisefoundation.org; or any back country/off-road trail restoration non-profit organizations. The family appreciates the outpouring of sympathy and concern over John's sudden passing.
