Obituary of Robert Edward Crawford, Sr.
Robert Edward Crawford, was born to the late Marion Crawford, Sr., and Annie Mae Crawford on February 4, 1952.He attended Bates Elementary School, and graduated from Beaumont High School, in St. Louis.Robert married Gail Broadie August 12, 1969, and from this union Robin, Anika, and Robert, Jr. were born.Robert looked to better himself after working different jobs in St. Louis, he saw he was not getting ahead in life, so he entered the Air Force on July 12, 1979. He was able to successfully complete basic training, and classes he signed up for to better himself. Robert retired from the military after twenty years of service to the United States of America, on September 30, 1994. He was in leadership as a Master Sergeant. Robert received decorations medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons. While serving his country He earned an Associate Degree from Los Angeles Metropolitan College. Robert heard the Lord calling his name. He starting listening and sought after the Lord. Robert took classes and was Ordained as a CME Minster. He joined Light, and Love Church and served as the Assistant Pastor. Robert wanted to continue to serve others, he completed a Degree earning a B.S. in Vocational Education Studies. Robert was on his way to teach the youth. He started out being a substitute teacher, and then found full time employment in Willingboro, New Jersey. Robert went back to school for his masters in Special Education. There he met his wife, Sheryl Horton in September, 1996. They were married August 23, 1997. From this union Robert gained two step-children, William, and LaShira Horton.He continued to further his education by attending workshops, training, and received various certifications to enhance his teaching abilities in the classroom. Robert was awarded Teacher of the Year by the State of New Jersey May 2013. He retired in June 2015 after twenty years of service. Robert didn't stop there, he received his Realtor's License, and worked at the Victory Realty 2016 up until his health started failing.He also continued to serve in the ministry as an Elder at the Sanctuary Church of Deliverance under the Leadership of Kevin A. Washington in Camden, New Jersey October, 2006 until Robert's health started failing. Through this ministry, Robert and Sheryl were ordained ministers, certified with training to serve, teach, and preach in the prison system, nursing homes, shelters, and street corner evangelism. Robert was preceded in death by his siblings, Diane, and Rose; nephews, Michael, Jna, and William; and great-grandson, Mar'King Bosdon Elijah Jackson.Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife, Sheryl; sisters, Gloria Jones, and Denise (Carlton Harris); brothers, William (Justine), James (Norma), Marion (Thamara), Michael (Sheila), Anthony, and Stanley (Liz); sisters-in-law, Edna Williams, Sheila Harrison, Meredith (Joseph Mitchell); his children, Robin D. Crawford, Anika (Guy Sadler III), Robert Jr. (Jessica), William, and LaShira Horton, and Gail Crawford (James Mucker); aunts, Hattie B. Blair, Ruby Hodo Clara Fortner, Lucy Somonl; grandchildren, Markeisa Crawford, Jarren Crawford (Tanice Lashea), Kaelan Crawford, Lottie Fairbanks, Lovie Fairbanks, Robert Crawford III, Taurus Crawford, and Leshay Bocker (William Moon); great-grandchildren, Kemar Crawford, Lamar Crawford, Demontre Heard, Jr, JH Kobi DH King Jackson, Mari' Ona Jackson, Carter Crawford, Ella Rose Wilson, Maleah Lashea, Antwain Orlando, Derrion Meshawn, JayShawn Crawford, Jarren Crawford, Isaiah Crawford, Jayvon Crawford, and Amaya Moon. Also special nieces, Ronda Colman, Jennifer Cody, Jessica Haynes; and a host of nieces, nephews, grands, great-grands, and cousins. Along with special friends, Richard McKight, Carlton Jackson (Clarice), Anthony Fleming, Donald Lynch (Laura), George Malmburg (Josefina), Vernon Dixon (Patricia), and Larry Johnson (Carol).Special Acknowledgments from:William CrawfordRobert, my brother whom I loved, was a warrior for the Lord. He was warm, witty and had a wealth of knowledge on a multitude of subjects. He Loved Sheryl, and all of his family. I have great respect for "Robert" but the day has come to say good-bye.
