Obituary of Johnny Leno Grimaldo
Johnny Leno Grimaldo, a loving husband, incredible father and Papa, son, brother, uncle, and coach passed away September 2, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving family while he passed. He was born October 13, 1970 to Isaac Joseph and Linda Fern (Fernandez) Grimaldo in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Johnny and his wife Lorretta began their lives together at the ages of fourteen (14) and thirteen (13). Together they created a beautiful life for their four children and grandchildren. Johnny was a talented wrestler who received numerous awards throughout his athletic career; including being the first person in the Colorado Springs area to win the district championship three years in a row. The passion he had for the sport rolled into his coaching career which began in 1991. He dedicated his life to coaching young athletes and inspiring them to become the best version of themselves. His love of sports drove him to coach as many sports as possible from wrestling to softball and everything in between. While Johnny loved coaching, his true passion was being an incredible father and grandfather. He became a father at a young age, but made every sacrifice possible to be the best father he knew how to be. He supported his children through each of their own journey's, he was there for all aspects of their lives, sharing valuable life lessons with them which helped shape them into the adults and parents they are now. Though the love he had for his children was strong, it was the love for his grandchildren that truly made him glow. He would spend hours running around with his grandbabies, teaching them, sharing with them, and loving them with his entire being. Nothing made him prouder than watching his children and grandchildren be successful in what they loved. Johnny was a hardworking man, who was able to find a career in which he truly enjoyed, being a Top Flight Security Officer for a school campus. He found joy and happiness at his school working with children every day, keeping the campus, staff and students safe. He enjoyed being part of the strong and kind community surrounding the school. Being able to make a difference in the everyday lives of the students, staff, and community truly allowed him to love his career. He is survived by his wife, Lorretta Lynn Grimaldo; son, Johnny Nathaniel Grimaldo (Valerie Ortivez); daughters, Danielle Ray Grimaldo (Samuel Martinez, Jr.), Kelsey Lynn Grimaldo (Samuel Clayborn), and Talor Alicia Grimaldo (Brenden Koehlinger); eight grandchildren with one on the way; and his niece, Natasha Shereice (Kallista) Grimaldo. As well as many other nieces, nephews, and siblings. "In the end, it's not the years in your life that count.
