Obituary of 1SG Ronald Jay Russell, U.S. Army,
1SG Ronald Jay Russell, (Ret.), passed away on October 6, 2021 after battling Lewy Bodies Dementia. Ron was held by his loving wife in his home in Beulah, Colorado as he passed from this world to the next.Ron leaves behind many loved ones including his wife, Rae Marie Hartmann-Imes; his dearly loved son, Jay Edward Russell; sisters, Vicky Brotherton, and Shirley Hillard; stepchildren, Stevie Romero, and Michael Hartmann; grandchildren, Kai, Jasper, and Juniper; and the rest of a large and loving family that supported Ron through his end of life.Ron was a driven and patriotic man who dedicated thirty years of his life to serving as a Green Beret in the 10th Special Forces Group in the U.S. Army. There are many soldiers, but few are as exemplary as Ron. He served on more missions and earned more accolades than any of us will ever know. During retirement, Ron resumed building a carpentry business and transforming his wife's home into a mountain oasis that many love and cherish. He was a man of many talents and valued family, friendship, dancing, classic cars, and most of all, being helpful to those in need. The Russell-Hartmann family is especially grateful for the care and support from the community and professionals over the years.
