Obituary of Eva Eleanor Harrison
Eva "Eleanor" Harrison, 83, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away October 26, 2021.Eleanor was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 5, 1938, to Claude and LaVina Wilson. Eleanor graduated high school from the Friends Academy in Haviland, Kansas in 1956. She received an associate degree in music from Friend's Bible College in Haviland, Kansas in 1958. She married Darryl Harrison July 26 of that same year and they were married for sixty-three years. Eleanor's passion for God and learning merged when she went back to college to finish her degree many years later. In 2001 she completed her first bachelor's degree in Christian Ministries and Leadership while in 2002 she added her second in Theology.Eleanor worked a variety of jobs over the years. She worked in a finance company, she worked with Darryl in his business, and she taught piano and organ. She found her love working in the school kitchens of Harrison School District and eventually retired as a Kitchen Manager. Eleanor was an active member of the Colorado Springs First Friends Church serving on many of its committees and its Executive Council. She was the church organist and pianist for many years. She was actively involved in its Women's Missionary Society. Eleanor and Darryl actively worked with the church youth, and she volunteered for many years as a youth counselor for Rocky Mountain Yearly Meeting Youth Camps at Quaker Ridge Camp. Eleanor enjoyed football and hockey. She was often in attendance at Air Force Academy football games and hockey matches where her enjoyment and excitement were evident to everyone around her. She loved collecting porcelain dolls, black amethyst glassware, and memorabilia related to pugs and frogs. Eleanor is survived by her husband, Darryl; sons, Kevin (Susan) and Kirk (Patty); four grandchildren, Christopher, Meghan, Benjamin, and Keara; and two brothers, Wendell Dale Wilson, and Mahlon Wesley Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claudius Quinten and LaVina Ellen Bradfield Wilson; sisters, Maxine Yvonne Schowalter, WillaDean Whitmore, Verna Lee Wilson, Mary Elizabeth Clowe, and Martha Ellen Snelling; brother, Quinten Jay Wilson; and grandchild, Kenneth.
