Obituary of Robert Anthony Preston

Robert Anthony Preston was born to Carl and Rita (Bowen) Preston on February 8, 1956 in Kingston, Jamaica. He emigrated to the United States in 1967 with his father and siblings to join his mother in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from Stuyvesant High School, Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Colorado Springs. He received an honorable discharge and after several jobs, he earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Robert had a career at the United States Postal Service, where he served for over thirty-seven years as a union official and American Postal Worker Union President 247.Robert was a loving, caring husband, father, brother, uncle, son, and grandpapa and was always attentive to the needs and well-being of his family. He personified "cool". He loved jazz and classic R&B music. He was an adventurer, willing to try new experiences, and loved to travel, especially to jazz festivals near and far. Earlier this year he completed his bucket list of visiting all fifty states.Robert is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his loving wife, Deidra (Randolph); and children, Crystal, Randy, Nia (Joe); and grandson, Joseph. His mother, Rita; and siblings, Sonia, Carol, Howard, Denise (Lawrence), Michelle (Ferron), Carlene, Dianne, and Tony (Tracey).
