Obituary of Everett James "Jim" Herron

Everett James "Jim" Herron, 71, died November 26, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jim was born September 28, 1950 in Los Angeles, California to Everett and Nina Herron. He was a retired massage therapist and handyman, dividing his time between Colorado and Texas since 2017. He also previously owned the Pak Mail business in Colorado Springs. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and his two sisters, Lorraine Gray, and Carolyn Rose Currier. He is survived by his nephew, Daryl Ronald Gray, Jr.; grandnephew, Skyler Roman Gray; and a cousin in California.Jim is remembered as a quiet, gentle man with a deep faith, a loyal and thoughtful friend with strong principles. His servant nature and attention to detail were expressed through everything he did, including volunteer work at the Dale House in Colorado Springs, doing handyman work, and washing dishes while the staff and residents engaged in family night activities. Jim also served the International Anglican Church for many years as part of the Sunday morning set-up team. Whatever Jim took on he did it well, conveying his concern and love for Christ. He was fiercely independent and although he lived with chronic pain for almost twenty years, he accepted little assistance. It was much easier for Jim to give than to receive. During his mom's last years, Jim took full care of her, working tirelessly to manage her affairs and keep her comfortable. Jim loved to fish! With an inheritance, the first thing he did was buy a boat. He had a long-standing dream of retiring on a piece of property with a dock and some pretty great fishing (his business cards showed a boardwalk and dock leading onto a lake). His dream came true in 2018 when he bought property on Fork Lake in Texas, including a boardwalk leading to a dock on a world-class bass fishing lake. His final desire was to return to Texas in his RV.His "little buddy" for over fifteen years was a cockatiel, "Sammy", given to him by a long-time friend who could no longer care for Sammy. As Jim traveled between Colorado Springs and Texas in his RV, Sammy went right along, sitting on his shoulder for hours they loved each other. Sammy sadly passed away earlier in 2021. Jim will be missed dearly and remembered with great love, he longed to be with the Lord, and we celebrate that he is with Him now, no more suffering but joyful peace with our Heavenly Father. A service to honor Jim's life will be held, 3:00PM, Sunday, March 13, 2022, International Anglican Church, 1305 North Union Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.
