Duke was one of the greatest people I knew. He was famous for his smoking meat or Mac and cheese or pizza on his smoker. He was always greeted friends and family with a smile and a hug. He will be missed by many. Now he is with Sid.

Josh, or who I originally knew as Duke and well later on as "dad", gave me a sanctuary and a trusting shoulder to lean on when I needed it most. He always reminded me that no matter what the "doctors" said, that I was a good person who was just a little lost on my path. He helped me heal my relationship with my own father and really helped me see things from a different perspective. I will never forget the wisdom and knowledge he gave to me. And I will always remember him helping me get over my fear of spiders and other various "creepy crawlies". I wish I would have thanked him for everything when I still had the chance.

I am ashamed to say that I hardly knew my nephew Josh. But what I do remember about him is that he sacrificed for his family everyday. He had that strong conviction of family that is a trait of the men in the Boynton family. I know we had a lot in common. He had a desire to serve his country in law enforcement, we shared a love of all things shooting, and we both had a strong work ethic. But distance didn't allow us to share with each other those things we had in common, and I deeply regret that we didn't allow time to get to know each other better. He had the Boynton's weird sense of humor that few outside the immediate family could understand. Nothing hurts so much as the loss of a child. My heart is heavy for my brother, and his wife, and Josh's brothers. He was taken far too soon. I hope they can take solace knowing that Josh is in heaven, and will be joined by family that precede him. Josh's legacy will be his daughters. I pray they do their father credit.

Jimmy and I are saddened by Josh's passing. Our warmest thoughts and prayers go out to each and everyone as you all navigate through this most difficult time. Even though we cannot be there for Josh's services, we are with you in spirit, now and in the days and weeks ahead.
