Obituary of Herbert Helmuth Prahl
Pastor Herbert Prahl was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.Herb was born in Port Washington, Wisconsin, on March 3, 1947 to Helmuth and Anita (Hoelz) Prahl. He was made a child of God through baptism on March 23, 1947 and confirmed on March 26, 1961 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Thiensville, Wisconsin.He attended Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He went on to Northwestern College in Watertown, Wisconsin and then to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin to complete his training to become a Lutheran pastor.Herb was assigned to St. Mark Lutheran Church and met his wife, Charlotte (Fitschen) Prahl who was also assigned there to start the school. They were married on December 28, 1974. They had three children, Steven, Ellen and Timothy. Herb served his entire ministry at St. Mark Lutheran Church. He served as Western Wisconsin District President from 1993-2016. He retired from the public ministry in July of 2019. Herb and Charlotte moved to Falcon, Colorado in September 2020 to be near family. They became members of Foundation Lutheran Church and have been dearly loved by their church family.For two glorious summers during his years at Seminary, Herb drove a jammer bus in Glacier National Park. Glacier 107 has always had a special place in his heart and has been the topic he most loved to talk about besides sharing his love for Jesus. He will be remembered for his love of his family, his appreciation for God's creation, and his passion of sharing the Gospel with everyone he met. He loved to remember everyone's name and he treasured people.Herbert is survived by his wife, Charlotte (Fitschen) Prahl; son, Steven (Jill) Prahl; daughter, Ellen (Scott) Stevenson; and son, Timothy (Keara) Prahl; and his seven dearly loved grandchildren, Owen, Norah, Sophie, Mollie and Averie Prahl, Blake and Carson Stevenson. He is further survived by his brother, James (Diana) Prahl; and sister, Jane (Larry) Wilms.He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Gideon Prahl.Herbert had a passion for encouraging and training others for the ministry.
