Obituary of Gary Mac Jurgens

Gary Mac Jurgens, 78, of Security, Colorado, passed away on June 4, 2022.He was born November 28, 1943, to Cornelius Arthur and Wilda Highland (McCullough) Jurgens in West Bend, Iowa. He was part of a large family consisting of two brothers, Ronald (Iva) Jurgens, and Dennis Jurgens; and three sisters, Myrna, Jean, and Marlene. For his high school years, the family moved to Security, Colorado, where Mac attended Widefield High School, and excelled in high school sports, particularly wrestling.Mac served in Vietnam as a military police officer and when he returned home, resumed his career-long work with Mountain Bell phone company. From his marriage to Karen Jurgens, he became a father to his only child, Jeff Garet Jurgens. Mac married two more times, with his last wife being Brenda Jurgens, whom he lost to cancer.In his retirement, Mac enjoyed his morning coffee group, trips to Cripple Creek, going fishing, spending time in his workshop, and spending happy hour with his friends.He was preceded in death by his last wife, Brenda Jurgens; parents, Cornelius and Wilda Jurgens, and sisters, Myrna, Jean, and Marlene. Mac is survived by his son, Jeff (Lisa) Jurgens; and grandchildren, Isabelle, Augustus, and Leonidas.We, his family, thank God for all the good years we had with him.
