I got to know Leigh a little when my family was posted to Colorado springs. From the little bit of time I've got to know her, I could tell that she was an amazing person! Even though it had been a number of years since we'd met in person she remembered me, and sent me a lovely Easter card. As a Canadian I was quite amused, and loved that she knew more about Canadian television shows than I did. At Kaitlyn's sleepover she suggested that we watch the "Red Green" show. This was something that I only remembered seeing adds for on CBC, but I never watched it myself until she suggested that we watch it. We had a great time that evening! I will miss her very much. My prayers go out to her family during this hard time.

Everett and Allison, Sorry to hear of your precious Daughter Leigh. We remember her well from the Farm Progress Show in Amana Iowa. She enjoyed her time with her Father riding on our John Deere Gator. She was a special young girl full of adventure. She and you both will be in our prayers to assist you with this loss. Leigh joined Blue Star Recyclers in 2014 after volunteering with us for a few months. For almost eight years she came to work everyday with a big smile, a positive attitude, and a willingness to help her team in any way. She set records, she took on new challenges, and I can't remember a shift when she didn't achieve her goal. Each of us have something Leigh made us, whether it be one of her knitted creations, her incredible handmade birthday cards and envelopes, or some kind of souvenir from Iowa. She was the only person I know who could watch two different shows on her laptop and phone, listen to music, and do her job at the same time... and be able to chat when I walked by her workstation. I know of few other people who brought that much light into a room, and you will be missed. All our love... Bill and Janet

Oh, dear Allison, Dan, Everett and all who loved (and always will) the vibrant, ever-smiling Leigh... Tim and I are grieving with you. We are so very sorry for your enormous loss. It's hard to try to wrap our arms around. We can't hardly believe that Leigh has passed on through the veil because she was so FULL OF LIFE. We are sorrowful that our young friend is gone, but how massively magnified the heartache must be for you. We pray that your hearts will be divinely comforted and you'll experience the true peace of God that surpasses all understanding. Leigh was a beloved and trusted young friend that meant the world to us (and to our DOGS... Culley, Charlsey, MacCallan, Roman and MacKenzie... and... to our HORSES... Caperten & Crockett). I can envision that your Toto and our Culley, Charlsey, MacCallan and Crockett all 5 met Leigh when she arrived and they've had a happy reunion. Leigh, Allison and Dan became like "FAMILY" for Tim and me over the 10 years that we lived right next door to them in NW Colorado Springs. Almost daily, Leigh lavished us with her joyful presence, her thoughtful gifts (creatively-crafted cards, various crocheted items and more artsy creations), and her delightfully-impassioned stories of experiences with songs she loved, TV shows she enjoyed, games she preferred and so much more. Year after year, Leigh would regale us with her feelings about getting to go again to the "Trans-Siberian orchestra" performance. She LOVED their songs and played them for us, often, when we were in the car driving somewhere. Leigh Leigh and I went to the Farmer's Market together (at Pinecreek by Woodmen Valley) almost every Saturday. We had a standing date that we both looked forward to. Not only did I enjoy every precious minute with our special young lady, but so did the vendors and the Farmer's Market regulars who showed up week-after-week with their dogs. Leigh knew every dog's name and oh, how the tails would wag when they heard Leigh's happy voice. Leigh's smile was brighter than the sparkly outdoor sunshine. I hold this memory close in heart. Also, for many years (before we bought a ranch up in the mountains), our horses lived in a 1500-acre pasture at the "Kettle Creek Ranch" in Northern Colorado Springs. MANY evenings, Leigh went with both or one of us to give grain to Caperten and Crockett. She was so good with them. No one could give a good brushing to a horse like Leigh. There was another horse who took to Leigh too. He was an elderly black and white boy who was a beautiful paint. He's gone now, but they had a special friendship. His name was Thirsty. The horses were drawn to Leigh and she was right at home with these big, sentient beings. She had no fear, but knew how to handle a horse. Leigh Leigh amazed us for so many reasons. What a creative talent and sweetheart she was! She spread joy everywhere she went. Leigh's heart for blessing others (giving special gifts she had made with you specifically in mind, etc) was a big part of who Leigh was (and forever will be). She was always doing something thoughtful. On the morning that our cream-colored Standard Poodle boy was going to be put down on our back porch... Leigh came to say her tearful goodbye. She gave us a painting that she she created with how she felt about Culley getting ready to cross over the rainbow bridge. We still have her large painting and will cherish it always. There was so much love poured into everything Leigh did. She didn't harbor grudges, but extended grace readily. I loved the little girl I first fell in love with and I was amazed by the woman she became. So courageous. So authentic. So caring and kind. I think of all the many ways Allison believed in and invested in her precious child. She gave Leigh every possible opportunity for learning, countless unique experiences and a necessary independence... even so, as her Mother, Allison kept a quiet, watchful eye on her daughter and ensured Leigh was always kept safe. Dozens of times, Leigh would come over to say farewell to us when she would be flying to her other home to visit her Dad and grandparents. She was always so excited to go. Too, Leigh was always eager to come over and tell us all about her trip after she flew home to Colorado. Leigh's Mother and her other loved ones gave her such a great life. As a result of all they poured into this ever-smiling ray of sunshine, we all got to benefit and experience the immense joy of having her in our hearts and home. Leigh had a key to our house because she was a close friend... "family" for Tim, the dogs and me. As a matter of fact, house-sitting and staying with our dogs was her very 1st job. We always knew our sweet Leigh-Leigh would responsibly tend to managing things well. She always left things better than she found them (her Mom taught her that). We believed in our beautiful Leigh Leigh and will feel forever grateful for her dynamic presence in our home and in our hearts. Bottom line: We will always love and adore Leigh Schilling. Time will never change that fact. Allison, we love you and we miss you. We wish we could be there for you, in person. Please always KNOW that you can pick up the phone ANY time of the day or night and Tim Rioux and I will be here for you. That will never change. I hope you enjoy a few photos I found tonight. Big (((Hugs))). P.S.: Tim and I want to plant a pink rose bush AND we want to plant a fruit tree this year... both in honor of our precious Leigh-Leigh.

Leigh, Oh how we are all going to miss you. We have loved you forever and are having a very difficult time trying to grasp you won't be here to spend all the time you did in the horse barn and with us. We looked forward to all your times spent with us and the fun we would have. We are going to pick out some trees to plant here in your memory . Our hearts are so heavy and the sadness lingers, but seeing that beautiful smile helps us remember all the good family times we have had together, and that smile puts one back on our faces. Every thought of you will be thinking of this beautiful smile and our talks that you could keep up forever. Love you sweet girl. Gramma Pam

Leigh and I weren't able to be as close of friends because of my ex, but she waited for me and defended me while my ex was busy ruining my life and happiness, and isolating me from my true friends like her and Kaitlyn. She was a true, patient, kind, and bright young woman, whom will be sorely missed. I will make sure that situations like my ex never happen again. At least she lived long enough to see me dump that piece of trash behind for a real man, and waited patiently, as both she and Kaitlyn waited for me to return. I remember she and I had a love of Horses, dogs, cats, and Trans Siberian Orchestra. She also loves Scooby-Doo, Looney Toons, WWE and RAW, and various country artists. We will all miss you Leigh, Rest in Piece you beautiful soul you.
