Obituary of Captain James "Robbie" Troy Robison, Jr.

Captain James T. Robison, Jr., United States Air Force, born June 11, 1943 in Alton, Illinois died at the age of 79 on July 19, 2022 with his adoring wife by his side. A most gentle, tenderhearted, and loving man, his last breath with us was his first breath in heaven.Jim "Robbie" Robison, spent his childhood in several places before calling Cheverly, Maryland home. He graduated as valedictorian from Bladensburg High School in 1961. Earning a place at the United States Air Force Academy, he graduated in 1965 with a bachelor's degree in Astronautical Engineering, and in 1971, he received his Master of Science in Aerospace Systems Management from the University of Southern California. He served as Electronic Warfare Officer flying out of Takhli, Thailand, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service in Southeast Asia. Subsequently, he was assigned to the 81st Tactical Fighter Squadron, flying in F-4s out of Hahn AB, West Germany. Prior to leaving for Germany, Jim married Sally Franklin, an educator, who accompanied him on his tour. He returned to civilian life in 1972 and settled around Sacramento, California, marking the beginning of an array of career and business ventures. There they were blessed with two daughters, Amy and Ashley. Sally preceded Jim in death in 2002.In 2007 he met Donna, and the two became inseparable. No one and nothing mattered more to them than one another. They were soon married and together continued Jim's lifetime passion for traveling, moving to Florida from where they could explore the world by cruise ship. An avid storyteller, he enjoyed sharing his wartime stories and travel adventures with anyone interested, making plenty of new friends along the way.Over the years together, Jim and Donna welcomed thirteen grandchildren. The two enjoyed video chat on each of their birthdays, and with Donna playing the piano, they would sing the "Happy Birthday" song. They will miss his voice and smile. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Donna; daughters, Amy Nance (Robison) and Ashley Harris (Robison); stepchildren, Carol Karp (Cushman) and Jonathan Cushman; siblings, Kay Hinegardner (Robison) and Ed Robison; and thirteen grandchildren. We all know this is not good-bye, as Jim put his faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. He knew the promise of God's Word - "Being therefore always of good courage, and knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord (for we walk by faith, not by sight); we are of good courage, I say, and are willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be at home with the Lord."
