Obituary of LTC Gary Lee Spuhler, U.S. Army,
Passed in Peace, August 13, 2022, our loving Dad, Papa, and avid fly fisherman, LTC Gary Lee Spuhler, U.S. Army, (Ret.), 78, joined his beloved wife, Saundra and son, Gary, Jr., in eternal life.He was native to Colorado. Go Broncos!!! Gary resided and passed in Colorado Springs, Colorado. �He is survived by his daughters, Julie, Wendy, and Suzie; grandchildren, Heather, Nik, and Hannah; and great-grandchildren, Eli and Stella.Gary attended college at Colorado State University graduating in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science and in 1989 attended the University of Phoenix graduating with a Master of Arts in Management.He served as an Officer in the United States Army for over twenty-four years, with a primary specialty of Field Artillery, earning many medals, badges, and commendations while serving in the Vietnam War, and multiple overseas tours. Additionally, he was the Executive Officer at several military installations.Gary's leadership, integrity, and dedication contributed to his military professional work ethic and experience. While his honesty, support and love for family and friends contributed to his influence and empathy in life. He also had a passion for gardening, planting fresh vegetables and flowers. Digging in the soil gave Gary such happiness and watching things grow and bloom brought him so much joy. Gary's favorite outdoor activities were camping and fly fishing. He served as President for the Pikes Peak Fly Fisherman's Club and was the Rocky Mountain Regional Coordinator of Project Healing Waters. He got such pleasure and gratitude in helping the soldiers fly fish. He was his happiest on the river. Forever fly-fishing in Heaven.
